Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Spyre gives you $100k right now for future endorsements while you're at UT until the $100k is covered by your NiL contracts. You do an endorsement while Spyre is managing your NiL and before the $100k is recouped, then the endorsement money goes to cover the $100k. I don't see the big deal with this. If they're keeping the $ above and beyond the $100k of the original deal, that's bad. If they're just fulfilling the original NiL management deal, what's the problem?
contracts can be changed prior to signing. it isn't spyres fault if they v don't like it

Signing a 5 star only to sit on the bench and not play a ton of meaningful snaps is dumb. No matter how it shakes it this time. Thatā€™s a dumb plan

Especially when he flashed potential in his few opportunities. It would be one thing if Mike Matthews looked overrated. But on the rare occasions he played he looked like our most talented receiver and one of the most talented players on the entire team. It's inexcusable that he didn't get more playing time.

Also why did Boo Carter have to strong arm the coaches into playing offense? I remember watching his high school highlights and thought he looked better on offense than defense. Huepel and the staff dropped the ball this past year when it came to Matthews and Boo. Both guys are elite talents that could have helped us.

This is on some Butch Jones/Alvin Kamara type incompetence.

Also commission from revenue is standard on the t shirts. The company is paying for the shirts/materials, website, domain, marketing, etcā€¦. They are literally giving you free money for no work.

The legend of the high school 5 star is a story as old as time. He was a 5 star so he has to be the best on the roster. How many times do we have to see it before we realize itā€™s based on potential. He couldnā€™t get on the field ahead of a MASH unit but heā€™s an all American because the staff is incompetent. He might figure it out and be elite but Iā€™m confident if heā€™s not playing heā€™s either injured or itā€™s on him for not doing what he needs to do. Good coaches make players earn playing time. See Rick Barnes and Tony V.

To be fairā€¦regrading former 5* itā€™s hard to imagine where they would be if we had a competent staff during those yearsā€¦Iā€™m a firm believer a lot of players were playing out of position and didnā€™t receive the best coachingā€¦.personally I think youā€™re looking too much into thisā€¦

Chris Lofton wasnā€™t highly recruited out of high school but he was put in a position where he preformed his best with his god given ā€œabilityā€ā€¦same case hereā€¦you donā€™t know what you have until theyā€™re placed in the right position..it clicks naturally..wether thatā€™s live reps or whateverā€¦some people seize opportunities that are unexpectedly given to them over people who feel like their role is safe because of seniority.

Many freaked out about the DB room last offseason when everyone bounced. Turned out to be an improvement.

While I get your point, while we arenā€™t losing anyone at WR worth freaking over besides Mathews if he does decide to go, Iā€™m not sure what WRs weā€™re gonna get that are instant improvements. So many already taken.

Why is this fanbase so quick to cut this university to pieces and then complain about every little thing they cause (yes these stupid tweets and rumors do extreme harm and make recruits not want to come to the university)
BVS. I apologize for taking the bait and feeding the monster.
