Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Vols Calls in 85mins.
You can listen here:

He absolutely excels in pass protection...it was a huge advantage for us, and last year I thought JS and JW both excelled at pass pro. I just hope one of these guys can bring the same quality this year because we will need it to keep Nico healthy.

One of my biggest worries about this year is Sampsons heretofore pathetic blocking...but...I saw how huge a leap JW had over the course of his career in pass pro, and it calms that particular anxiety down.

one of my favorite Tennessee games of the Dark Ages era was the 2014 OT win at South Carolina when Dobbs and Hurd put the team on their back
Was in Chicago that weekend to watch the All Blacks vs USA in Rugby at Soldier Field. After the game, some MTSU teammates and I went to some UT bar and partied with the UT rugby team and watched that game. Was a great day/night. It’s up there in one of my favorites from the last decade or so too.

Was it the Bad Dog Bar in Lincoln Square Neighborhood. I watched TN vs NC State there

This dude is such a dork. If you listen to the clip, sounds just like Butch Jones. Top 11 program in the country my ass lol.

You can paint lipstick on a pig and call it whatever you want but at the end of the day it’s still a slop eating sh!t covered value pack of off brand turkey bacon and both dorwitz and their fans know it.

It has the potential to be terrible. The goal is to win the game, not create highlight reels. When players start focusing on the highlights, winning is secondary. Particularly bad on defense, when it's about big hits rather than form tackles.
It's not for the individual, but the team...or maybe just the nil fund...not sure, but it does redirect your phone to the team's landing page apparently. The goal would be to win...then fans will be happy and donate postgame with the buzz.

Lose and people ain't givin shiz.

But I agree it could have downsides. No doubt a segment will scoff and turn the tv off even, but probably a very small minority. I mean, we already spend an hour per game being sold corporate bologna. Not even ******** fried Spam.

Glad for Okie St to be the guinea pigs...but if it's a dinger, DW will take it and make it 3x better and less imposing.

This has arguably already been an issue for 15 years because of short social media highlights.
Makes me think of Miami when they were failing to make bowl games and every big hit they acted like they were the damn early 2000s Miami defense...as they trailed by 3 TDs 😆

Cuhhhhlowns

My toxic trait was having concerns for Heupel’s ability to recruit here. Boy was I wrong.

Those who keep up more with crootin - what sort of big time names might we be able to land down the stretch to keep us up in the top 5 by the time February comes and goes? Feels like 1 more 5* or 2-3 guys like the Bama LB flip could nearly cement it.

Feels like #5 will come down to us or Auburn, though Oregon (currently with a 94.5 average, though only 15 commits) or Texas could have a say in it too.

Not even sure if option F is mathematically possible. But a coin toss between us and Alabama is absolutely what I'm rooting for.

Winning the coin toss and playing in Atlanta vs losing the coin toss and watching Vol fans storm the Birmingham office (while still being in the playoff). It's really a can't miss scenario.

Is it just me or does anyone else think UGA drops at least 2 of their 6 ranked opponents? I think Carson Beck is grossly overrated as well.
I can't say I do. Honestly, prepared to be quoted on this one. The Ole Miss game definitely feels like one of those Kiffin has every year where his team underperforms and it isn't close in the 4th.

Hopefully we are in a position to go into that game believing we have a chance, but hard to pick us to win in Athens as of today.

Their best shot at losing two would be Clemson and Texas IMO. Do not see them losing both of those games. Speaking of overrated QBs, Quinn Ewers will have to win that game by himself. I can't imagine they will have any rushing game to speak of against top level defenses.

The problem is most people don't know ahead of time if they can control themselves or they slip into a period in their lives where things are very tough and one drink goes to something else. If we're going by the healthiest option it's a glass of red wine (stop at 1) or complete abstinence. IDK about tequila and whiskey being healthier than anything else. I've never read anything that indicates that. All alcohol is poison (as noted earlier) although wine does have health benefits if limited it's the only one I've ever heard or read about that did.
It's believed that there are health benefits in Tequila and Mescal, associated with the agave base (which is very healthy). But I'm not sure that it's been proven that the health benefits survive after production.

The proposed health benefits are digestive health, heart health, lower blood sugar, sleep promotion, etc...
