Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I agree with him and you there. This is more of a defense in Rodney Gardner. If four isn't getting home. Why not TRY to bring a LB or nickel to finally get home? There wasn't one instance against UGA or Ohio State where we even tried to adjust when four wasn't getting home.

Now that I think about it. When has the defense ever made in-game adjustments? It seems to me that CTB relied on CRG and his crew for his success and overcoming weaknesses on his position group (safeties). But when They were struggling getting home. They were hung out to dry.

UGA we brought pressure like 40% of the time or something. It just didn’t work so you couldn’t tell.

OSU we brought very little but still did blitz.

I'm confused about LOTF & A River Runs Through It
Which one is about some brothers, one who is rebellious and causes family problems, a son who marries a native American, corrupt local officials, and their dad who likes fly fishing in Montana during the prohibition period??
LOTF also has Anthony Hopkins in it. He's the dad of 3 brothers, one of which (Pitt) marries a Native girl. It has the corrupt officials,

ARRTI, Pitt plays the brother who likes to drink and gamble. There's only two brothers in it, and they learn fly fishing from their dad.

Watch the highlights. Not one play in their big plays where we brought more than four. Hell, we would show we're bringing, six. And still bring four. He got schooled by a guy who's been fired how many times by UGA?

The only instance here where we brought a linebacker is when we had three down linemen.

We all can be relieved when we set our worries at the feet of Christ.

January 4, 2025: To those who have been under a great deal of stress and tension, you must set your heart and mind to purposefully relax. The strain is not good for you emotionally, mentally or spiritually. Release your concerns by putting your trust the Lord. God will direct your steps. Matthew 11:28-30 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light

How many offensive snaps for UGA do you think these 10 mins show?

That’s rhetorical btw. Not enough to claim we never blitzed.
You're more than welcome to share some evidence to support your stance.

You said we "brought little, but we still blitzed". What is a blitz to you? To me, it's sending more than four. So that's a bit of an oxymoron.

I saw one blitz on that highlight reel. A nickel came down too early, Beck saw it and hit the easy screen.

I feel like the older I get hardened by the sports losses I've gone through. I've already been greatly disappointed by every team I follow, so I handled this loss much better than I would have years ago.

We also accomplished the next step for the program in making the playoffs. The level of vitriol and hand wringing was really dumb.

Now we sit here

We got Moe
Probably got Jefferson
Mike is back

Ohio State murdered Oregon even worse and they just happen too look as good as any one ever has.

So at the end of the day, the idiot margin is out because, we got killed on the road, in the playoffs, with no healthy skill players, against one of the better and most talented teams we've ever seen?
I think the shock was finding out how good OSU was. They did not show that all year.

My question is more about WHY couldn’t our front four get home more often. Our dline was advertised as one of the best and most deep in the country.

Again how many offensive snaps do you think this shows? Go back and watch every UGA offensive snap you’ll see more than 4 coming more than you think. Doesn’t mean that when we didn’t bring a blitz we didn’t get picked apart. But the blitzes didn’t work either. Tried different things against them, none of it worked.

Now one could absolutely argue that the blitzes were not exotic enough.

Yes a blitz is bringing more than 4.

January 4, 1999.......

I have close family connections with both UT and FSU. This was a fun night at our house.

After a scoreless first quarter, Shawn Bryson caught a short td pass and Dwayne Goodrich returned an interception 54 yrds to give UT a 14-0 lead. “The Rooster” Marcus Outzen lead the ‘Noles back to cut the lead to 14-9 at the half.
The score remained the same until midway through the 4th quarter. Deep in their own territory, Tee Martin hit Peerless Price on a 79 yrd TD to extend the lead. Jeff Hall would add a FG to make the score 23-9. FSU would cut the lead to 23-16, but the Vols Defense held and gave UT their first consensus National Championship since 1951.
The ‘Noles Defense held Tennessee’s running game in check, but Martin and Price made huge plays all night. Martin finished with 279 yrds and Price had 199 yrds receiving and was named MVP.

As many as there are disguised as showing four and sending more. There's also a lot more looks that show we're bringing more than four and one or two dropped into coverage and the number ended at four.

It shows enough information to show we didn't blitz "40% of the time" either.
