Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I'm going to add this this evening. I've been critical if a couple of staff members this season...... But I have to give props when it's due. Our coaches stabalized the wr room when things looked like they were going to go sideways. We will miss Squirrels reps and experience with this system but factors dictated a move for him......

Let's see what we can get out of the portal and look to the o line........I think not taking a tackle would be a big mistake.

Have you not seen Inglorious Bastards?
Nope, only reason I watched Legends of the Fall was because my wife wanted me to watch it with her..

I've watched almost every Tom Cruise Movie and to the day I will tell you "The Color of Money" was his best movie. Tom and Paul Newman were terrific in the movie .

I live here just outside of Lebanon and trout fished regularly for years going to either tributaries off of Center Hill lake or going up to Dale Hollow. Just found out a week or so ago that a bunch were released right here in Town Creek either in late November or early December and they plan to release some more either late January or early February.
Got some friends who fish The Caney and really enjoy it.

I have faith in Garner to have our DL ready. It's the OL I sweat especially after seeing Nico running for his life all season long. I would find a way to take as many OL from the portal as our numbers will allow. No faith at all in Ellarbee's evals and development skills and you know UT will get injuries where it can least afford them. So, yes, this kid is a want.

Just throwing it out there, but LSU's OL coach was a teammate of Heupel's at OU. Seems to recruit pretty well but could be that LSU is just easier to recruit to. And I have no idea how well his players have actually performed since I rarely watch LSU. More than anything, I just found the Heupel connection interesting.

Probably my Top 5:
LOTF
Fight Club
Snatch
12 Monkeys
The Assassination of Jesse James

But,

Seven
Inglorious Basterds
Sleepers
A River Runs Through It...all very very great, as well.
I'm confused about LOTF & A River Runs Through It
Which one is about some brothers, one who is rebellious and causes family problems, a son who marries a native American, corrupt local officials, and their dad who likes fly fishing in Montana during the prohibition period??

While you are stating some legitimate concerns they seem a little extreme versus the reality of this season. We did struggle against top defenses in pass protection especially at tackle. For balance I would watch the tape of Oregons offensive line trying to block OSU (worse than us). Also watch the vaunted Georgia OL try in pass protection against Notre Dame. It’s definitely fair to question the fact that Ellarbee hasn’t started one of his HS recruits yet but that likely changes in 2025. Nico was also inexperienced and tended to hold the ball and be indecisive at times. Normal for a first year starter. We also did have the SEC offensive player of the year and led the SEC in rushing so there were also some really good things happening up front. In balance the results would suggest the coaching was well above average but not elite. Offensive line is also the hardest position to evaluate and teach. I’m just suggesting that firing Ellarbee and rolling the dice it would improve the actual results is far from a sure thing. Ellarbee also really understand our system.

As far as the DL, Garner is elite but his unit got killed against OSU. Georgia actually dominated them as well. I love Garner and hope he retires here but sometimes you just get beat in high level competition.

Not trying to call you out as concerns are legitimate but trying to bring some balance. If we are competing for a spot in the playoffs I will gladly take it. Maybe one year we will get hot and win it all.
