Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I mean idk what has happened to the creativity, motion, etc. the last 2 years but the only thing I can see is that we haven't had QB/OL play capable of the first 2 years and he had no choice but to dumb it down. We aren't even seeing the same formations though which is strange. Hopefully going forward we see '22 level play design with the big changes in run blocking/12 personel
How does bad OL play prevent you from motions?

10-2 and made the playoffs. With a WR corp that no one was afraid of.

The 6 has always been available with a RS and medical RS. Only get 6 if you’re injured
Yes but could see that going to 7. It’s enough. Keep it 4 and do a redshirt and medical. Also, you used to have no games instead of 4. College is a 4-5 year gig typically and especially athletically. Other kids deserve opportunities

Wasn't talking specifically about just a bad OL. 2 facts though. We used less motion and RPO's in '24.
And I was agreeing and wondering why. Motion doesn't require that much talent. I can understand eliminating elements of an offense that lesser players just can't handle, but why eliminate motions?

Golesh is coaching for his job this season? Is that what you're saying? Or, did I misunderstand?
There isn't a seat colder than Golesh right now in college football. USF went 4-29 the 3 seasons before he got there. He has 14 wins including 2 bowl wins these last two years.

Idk. Maybe they just didn't trust anyone to do basic stuff. They seemed to have issues with simple pass blocking up front. I really liked a lot of the gap blocking this year though.

That's why I asked for clarification, to make sure I understood it right; and, more importantly, if serious. Surely he can't be serious, right? Surely I'm just misunderstanding...right?

I'm not old enough to remember Ellis at Tennessee but I do remember watching him when he was with the Sonics. What I can remember the most was.... he was a consistent shooter, wore #3, was in an all-star game, and won a NBA 3 point contest.

Ain't he taller than Lanier?
6'7". He was pretty much strictly a post player at Tennessee.

On Clemson's DC role:
The early name to watch to fill that role is Tennessee defensive coordinator Tim Banks. The Vols’ defense allowed 16.1 points and just 103.9 rushing yards per game this season. He’s yet to sign a contract for the 2025 season with Tennessee.

The former Penn State and Illinois defensive coordinator turned down the Miami defensive coordinator job, sources tell On3. The Tigers are expected to make a run at Banks.
