Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Im not saying they wanted or planned to leave her open but she's one of those if somehow she's left open you play the %s & live with it.. Out of the 5 that was on the court.. Puckett would be the one I'd want taking the shot if I was on defense & I'd take that risk everytime 🤷‍♂️ Spear shoots 2x the amount of shots Puckett does and they have the same %?! Thats not a good argument on your end for Puckett.. lol. I'd take Tess Darby over Puckett any day if we're talking their best shooters.

Spear, Cooper, Spencer, Whitehorn, THEN Puckett in that order to take that shot. Puckett should've been in the deep corner out for the way pulling that LumberJack for OU out of the paint.. She should've been last resort on a kick out🤷‍♂️ they was down 1 & she had a good 6-7ft wide open drive to the paint for a floater/pull up with 10 SECONDS left.
You clearly know much more than Coach Caldwell, who, in her postgame press conference, said the play wasn't designed for Puckett, but since Puckett is one of their best shooters and was wide open you "take that shot" and "it was a high percentage shot" coming from her and she had zero problems with it.

Since CKC is so clearly wrong and you're obviously correct, you should send her and AD White a memo to correct her and have her consider hiring you to correct her every day. I think they'd love that.

Where was the complaining of the coaching specifically?? I just made a obvious statement.. don't like it? Don't get on a message board🤷‍♂️🙄🙄🙄 anyone that watched the game especially the 1st half would agree the press didn't work and gave OU 20-25 easy points. The 2nd half it gave them several more easy buckets and open 3s due to lack of rotation or just being to slow getting back from said press. But yea go off 🙄
Maybe watching women's basketball, and the new Lady Vols style of play isn't for you....

I don’t think the difference in the “haul” between #1 and #2 warrants much emotion.
OK, Kraft prolly didn’t GAF that they dropped to #4. He had already made his mind up.

My main (separate) point was that I wanted to see Mayo have a chance to upgrade his roster and a second year. Not to be.

First of all, I've never heard that anywhere. Please post a source if you have one.

Secondly, his contract was intentionally not extended last year. Why would he sign an extension mid-year (which would be unusual) while he's coaching statistically the best defense we've fielded since our 1998 national championship year and we were likely going to earn a CFP spot? That would be stupid.
This. It was reported by Stoerner Fumbles a few days ago that we intentionally didn’t extend his contract last year so it would seem it’s more on us than him leveraging us. That sends a pretty clear message that you are coaching for your job. I don’t know how a coach in that situation doesn’t at least listen to an offer from a 2 time National Championship coach.

Between the 2022 and 2023 season Joe Milton lost NFL receivers and a first round tackle. Even Hendon would've taken a step back last year.

Any success Milton has at the next level is not an indictment on Heupel. He had great success at UT under the circumstances and actually put up decent numbers. Some people just love looking for reasons to make Vols and the staff look bad for their own entertainment.
I'm going to give myself a cookie.

Also, little did I know at the time how HUGE of a step back we've taken at receiver the last two years. Kelsey Pope has really dropped the ball (dad joke)

I'm shocked the Pats fired Mayo. He's been in that organization since his playing days. They gave him 1 garbage year with a horrid roster and new staff while breaking in a rookie QB and fired him?

Screw the Pats. Hate that franchise even more now.
Bill left the cupboard empty and Mayo got left holding the bag. For all the thought that went into him being the planned successor, they didn’t give him much of a chance to build anything. This management decision making is on par with the titans and Dan Snyder with redskins.

Yeah and I hope Nico's dad and Nico understand that he can't miss guys like that. I'm sure they did, but if I were Heupel I'd pull that tape out...

"OK I had guys wide open, here, and here and here and here etc." Lol
Blaming doesn’t typically get your way. Now showing evidence and constructively coaching how we’re going to help you identify and execute those opportunities, that may be a good route.

What I don’t understand is this: if Kraft wanted Vrabel as his head coach, why didn’t he just hire him as his head coach last year? He was available. Why hire Mayo and then not even give him a chance?
