Let’s say Nico left—no I don’t think he will nor ever was going to—but let’s say he did. I absolutely would take Ewers for one year at $3 million, let G-Mac redshirt, and then hand G-Mac the reigns in 2026.Guy at work asked me this last week…..
Would you take Ewers at $3m for one year?
I said no, but it wasn’t an immediate no……
I’m assuming you mean Bill Cowher.CBS Sports segment on Mayo's firing.
1. In 2023 teams were requesting to interview Mayo and Kraft took initiative to rewrite his DC contract to include the caveat that Mayo is the next HC of the Patriots. Then they fired Belichek and hired Mayo.
2. There was a clear lack of preparation and execution in the Pats over the last month. Kraft likely targetting Vrabel.
3. Bill Chower on if 1yr was enough for Mayo: No, 1yr was not enough and means there was a lack of faith and serious admission of failure in hiring Mayo. Probably a communication issue between Kraft and Mayo. Mayo probably wasn't transparent on his decisions to Kraft and Chower emphasized the importance of having a vision and communicating that vision.
Sounded more like he was guessing as to what the downfall was rooted in based on the notion that the ONLY reason you fire a coach yr 1 is because you think you made a mistake and they aren't a competent head coach.
Mayo can get an NFL assistant job for sure. Has he ever been a DC?So just gonna throw this out there: Banks leaves, does Heupel go after the VFL/newly jobless Jerod Mayo? No idea if he’d be interested in college nor how he faired as the linebacker coach at NE, but definitely intriguing. I don’t follow the NFL that much, and especially not NE, so I really don’t even know if he’s worth mulling over were Banks to leave.
