Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I think of it like the Iowa game. Nico didn't have a great game (stay with me here, put the pitchforks down folks) throwing the ball. He made some plays with his arm, but he also bailed out a lot and used his legs. Something a lot of young QBs do when they panic. Gave up a lot of sacks that game too (not all his fault).

But he also found a way to out points on the board and move the offense down the field. Got gritty when he needed to be.
One reason for my trepidation regarding our offensive production this season is...I have never witnessed Nico have an elite game PASSING...while I have seen him make elite throws, but I've never seen him slice up a defense with his arm over and over and over again.

At this point it is all just POTENTIAL...the potential is awesome, but honestly I would feel a lot better about anointing this offense as a return to 22 form if he had thrown for 350 with 4-5 TDs against Iowa.

The potential for a top 10 offense is there...but that is all it is right now. I want to see a sharp-overpowering-electric passing game against UTC to put that trepidation to rest...hopefully it happens.

Did you see that recent research from Stanford that there are rapid bursts of aging around ages of 44 & 60...?

I'll be 60 next year. I'm ****ed.

In people in their 40s, significant changes were seen in the number of molecules related to alcohol, caffeine, and lipid metabolism; cardiovascular disease; and skin and muscle. In those in their 60s, changes were related to carbohydrate and caffeine metabolism, immune regulation, kidney function, cardiovascular disease, and skin and muscle.

It’s possible some of these changes could be tied to lifestyle or behavioral factors that cluster at these age groups, rather than being driven by biological factors, Snyder said. For example, dysfunction in alcohol metabolism could result from an uptick in alcohol consumption in people’s mid-40s, often a stressful period of life.

The team plans to explore the drivers of these clusters of change. But whatever their causes, the existence of these clusters points to the need for people to pay attention to their health, especially in their 40s and 60s, the researchers said. That could look like increasing exercise to protect your heart and maintain muscle mass at both ages or decreasing alcohol consumption in your 40s as your ability to metabolize alcohol slows.

Eat a decent diet, take long walks, limit alcohol, caffeine, etc. And hopefully have good genes and you’ll be fine.

I’ll play! And I’ll up the ante on this forecasting.

5 sec teams make playoff

1. Uga (12-1)
2. OSU (12-1)
3. Utah (11-2)
4. FSU (10-3)

5. Texas (12-1)
6. Oregon (11-2)
7. LSU (10-2)
8. Michigan (9-3)
9. Tennessee (10-2 losses to uga, and ou controversially)
10. Alabama (9-3)

Texas beats Tulane and then FSU. Tennessee beats Michigan but loses to UGA for 2nd time this season. Oregon beats Notre Dame and then Utah. LSU/Bama decide by last second field goal and winner loses to OSU.

UGA vs Oregon
OSU vs Texas

UGA vs OSU (OSU wins title on last second field goal - haha uga - Ryan day saves job with first title as Osu head coach - yuck)
Well done. We just disagree on TX and UGA.

IMO - Learning to forgive ourselves so we can truly move forward in faith can be one of the hardest steps. This was something I wrestled with a long time. Loving others starts with knowing you are worth loving. I hope everyone hears that today because you all are.

I want to see how Nico performs AT Oklahoma and his response if Tennessee gets behind in 2nd half the game. I understand all this hype in camp but it's practice not live game action.

First SEC game and on the road that's a big opportunity to show his talents on the National Scene as a RS Frosh.

Feeling better @knoxvol52 @UTSuave’ ……. Best record in baseball and will soon have Glasnow and Yamamoto back.

The lineup is much improved over the last couple of weeks with Mookie and Muncy back. Edmans is an upgrade at SS and Kevin Kiermayer is the man in CF. Still worried somewhat about Buehler and Miller.

This is something that I’ve struggled with, I can forgive others no problem, but I cant forgive myself for some past mistakes

Thinking about getting a new car/truck, since the one I drive now is the only truck I’ve ever had, since I was 15. Looking into either getting a Civic or Corrola if I get a sedan, or a Tacoma-colorado-silverado if I get a truck. Any recommendations or opinions on any of those?

Yep. At Oklahoma is going to be tough. Their fans will be lathered up for their first ever SEC game and a chance to beat Heupel. We’re going to get their best.

With Gladnow and Yamamoto back…. we won’t have to rely on Beuhler and Miller… I hope both figure it out though.

That will be a tough game even if Nico is on point….. I have no doubts that he will have a great season. Guys will be open in this offense.

@UGA and @OU....would love a split.
UF and Bama b2b...i'd like a repeat of '22 please.
NCSU...everyone says it's good we're getting them early. i think the same might be true for us, with them? i think this game plays out a little like the Pitt game a couple years ago where the defense puts the team on their back. but i think this is a very important game to set the correct tone for the season, against a good NCSU team that is capable of winning this game.

the obvious is a lot depends on Nico and how far a long he really is, early. september is no joke, and i'm going to say he is where he's supposed to be, and because of that, the front 7....we get thru Sept at least 3-1, lose @ UGA and win the rest and finish 10 -2...losing to UGA and Bama or OU. 9-3 is on the table because we could lose to Bama and OU. the worst case i think is 8-4, but that would, to me, mean we lost a game to NCSU or UK, and neither of those would feel very good. sneaky road game at Arkansas after the OU game....going to Fayetteville has never been an easy prospect for us, though i don't expect them to be very good, but for some reason that game sticks out on the schedule like a sore thumb.

Florida will be better than their o/u of 4.5 suggests. and all they've heard for a solid year is how much they suck.....there's a lot of not so good in gainesville these days, but one thing that team doesn't lack is a talent. i think we should win this game, don't misunderstand me....but how often is it that Florida is made out to be a walk over? not very often, and i expect they'll show up.

10-2, hanging around the top 10 and we get in to the playoff this year.
