Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Really like it, and notable how no athlete anywhere ever says, “I’m thankful there is no God, that life arose by chance, there are no transcendent immutable truths, and everything we do and believe is ultimately meaningless. That helps me prepare and play my best!”
I don’t think it’s notable at all.

Just saw on X some sports writer say "Josh Heupal on his best day isn't as creative on offense as Sark".... unfortunately pretty damn accurate based on this season. Folks are seeing how predictable we've become with just about zero wrinkles... not sure if it was Heup just being stubborn and not wanting to change or what, but clearly we ran a vanilla O this season in comparison to the last two seasons... In before "but but but we won 10 games soooo...." We 'ish the bed when it counted against OSU and were easily predictable. Didn't change a dang thing...
And it was funny when folks were posting Heup's press conference before the game when he was saying they weren't changing anything up for the playoffs... Several writers were saying, "yeah, you KNOW Heup is gonna whip up some new stuff for OSU"... LOL and then we literally run the exact same O and OSU knew what we were going to do before we snapped the ball.

Hoping something changes...

IF UT had thumped OSU just as badly, would that make us bad guys? Or just doing what we were supposed to do?

I don't understand holding that against them. They did what they were supposed to do. We didn't and couldn't. Shake hands, show respect, and do better next time.

If TX thumps OSU, then it makes UT look that much more inferior to an in-conference rival we'll have to recruit against. Why on earth would we root for that extra salt in the wound? Why would we want to compound the negative effects of our loss to OSU?
I’d love to be the bad guys. Usually means you’re doing something right.

I’ll say though that this post has been the most convincing so far.

Sark? The guy who called the toss play from the 1-yard line that lost 7 yards during the biggest drive of the most important game his team played all year?

Super creative play call tho 👍

1st year TX in the SEC winning it all will make them unbearable. UT looks less-bad, the better OSU looks this year.

This CFB Playoff turned out to be very much like every US election these days: Choosing between a huge dooj nozzle and a huge turd sammich. If you have to pull for one of the above, it may as well be the dooj nozzle that makes UT look a bit better on the national stage.
Exactly this... and they are almost unbearable now. We don't need 100 years of how Texas saved the SEC.

In ten years a QB in NFL will be making over a $100 million a year. No way QB in college ever makes that much in one season...

Its crazy that Beck will make $4M at miami next year...Levis makes $950k. Granted Levis got a signing bonus, but any way you twist it Beck is making more per year than Levis.

Why would you ever go pro if you could make the same or better money in college? Posted up on a campus where everything is free to you, people treat you like celebrities, and there are thousands of beautiful girls your age within a half mile radius that think you're a hero?? Bet we don't see many QBs and WRs leaving early anymore...why would you? Maybe RBs because they have a very short lifespan age wise. Other positions? No way I would leave early if I was Nico or Mike Matthews etc.

Random post. If you want an axe of any style/weight hollar at me. I not only love shopping for antique ones I love handling them and shaving the handles down to match older styles. I don't even care about money it's just fun. Chopping wood tonight reminded me.
Went through an axe and hatchet phase...it was a fun rabbit hole to research and hunt for at flea markets. 1000011720.jpg

I saw something like this coming. In a "Coach Prime" show interview, they asked him about his vision for the next steps at Colorado, he wouldn't answer. I knew then that he was gone, now that his kids are out.

But he was almost honest. Later in the same show, he said people think he did it for himself. He said he did it for his sons. (Definitely not the players he'll be leaving behind.)
