Yeah I agree we would be competitive with everyone else on a neutral field. Also with a more favorable draw this place would have been more tolerable. Reality is you need a good team and some luck to win a national championship. Last 20 years neither OSU or Notre Dame would have even qualified. I believe a playoff like this is a better method to determine a champion and gives teams like us that have tough schedules a better shot than the old way. Also have no problem with those that like the old way. They just need to fix the automatic bye nonsense. If that happens we would have got a game in Neyland and likely win a game or two. As long as you’re competing for the playoffs I think you should be happy. Sports are supposed to entertain you and be enjoyable otherwise what’s the point?I think we could've beat basically anyone else in the playoffs, but we got OSU at the worst possible time and place to play them. Maybe we wouldn't beat every team, but we could've given everyone else a tough game. No team was beating OSU @ OSU that night. . . similar to our game vs UGA. Hope we get a few more dudes and take everyone's lunch money next year.
I agree we won 10 games last year and the last 3 years were very good. However, we lost to a very middle of the road Arkansas, had Georgia on the ropes and could not protect the middle of the field on defense, and got blown away by Ohio State, who will likely win the National Championship. however, we had a roster that was still thin on 4-5 star talent, extremely thin of experienced talent at the LB position, slow at the safety position, and an Offensive line that was, at times, offensive. Despite all this, our most of our players played their harts out and acco0mplished more than 90 percent of the preseason VOLs fans predicted would win only 7-9 games. The were able to play above the conditions present and made us proud of their accomplishments. I am willing to bet, that most of the posters on this board will predict that we will win only 7-8 games next year. I think we will win 9-10 games next year, just a I did last year. We will have better talent at almost every position, granted, at some positions, the talent will be less experienced. What blows my mind is, some on here are unwilling to face or understand the level of the talent we had on last area's team compared to the teams which are competing for the championships. We are getting better and we will continue to get better. It takes time to recruit talent and for that talent to acquire experience. Hang in there, the future is the brightest it has been in over 20 years.Yes because it blows my mind that we have fans that are miserable and thinks the program is trash. The program is in a really good spot. Has won 30 games over the past 3 years.
I mean, it kind of is lucky if his scheme is not the reason they're producing. Coming to a team where RG has everything ready for you in the DL is kind of lucky.Danny White technically hired everyone on staff…
But when Banks was hired as DC he had the ability to keep or hire the guys he wanted. RG was here & he kept him.
Just think saying the DC is “lucky” because part of his defense played at an elite level is kinda weird.
Banks doesn’t deserve all the credit, obviously RG & Ekeler are recruiting and training the guys upfront. But Banks isn’t Lucky because of it.
