Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I mean if you can’t tell it’s one of my biggest frustrations. A lot has been done to augment Elarbee and surround him with people that can be better at this but I obviously find it inexplicable.

I think the simple answer is there’s a belief the coaching more than makes up for it. That’s not my view but that would seem logical.
I don’t know what to think anymore

Hasn’t our oline been named Joe Moore finalists the last three straight years

What do you do

I think what we’re doing might be the right answer. I don’t know that it’s not.. but I do know that people don’t know what they are talking about if they give him credit for relationships with these recruits.

In general, Glen does the absolute bare minimum in recruiting. If we land someone, it’s generally because of some other reason. If we don’t land someone, people like to point to the OL coach not building relationships because that’s a reasonable thing to do.

The unfortunate reality is there isn’t a single person around the program that gives him a passing grade on recruiting, which is why all “insiders” say the same thing.
Well that's on Heupel. He needs to fire his ass if he doesn't do his job.

I think the people who can survive in the sec on coaching alone is veryyy few and far between. On our staff, CRG (with his thirty year history of putting players in the league) is the only one who can claim that.

The thought that your coaching is just that much better than everyone else in a league that is the highest level of competition in ncaa football, and that people (emotional creatures) will be able to put aside their feelings and go with your school solely on a coaches developmental reputation is unrealistic at best, and arrogantly foolish at worst, in my opinion.

If those awards are your measuring stick....
Well
We went 10-2 with lesser talent this year
What the hell is the problem
Talent and coaching?
But then you see finalists for that award and not many can say that for three straight years

If you fire him who do you realistically get?

Will coaches knock down your door to come to a place to coach that fired the previous coach who was a consistent awards finalist recognizing good performance

What do you do, and what’s your realistic plans if you do fire him

That makes no sense---a percentage of a contract is just that. It doesn't have anything to do with the length of the contract. Once the contract is up, the agent negotiates the next contract---for a percentage
My point was there’s not often a “next contract” for NIL college players unless they blow up and decide to not go pro. I don’t know how many NIL agents go on to be their clients pro agent too.

Was looking at our 2026 class, which is off to a great start as yall know. I didnt realize that we had 8 commits already. So about 1/3 of the class. That happened fast. Cant wait to see who else jumps in the boat. Pretty sure we have a couple more guys we are in a good spot with set to announce late Jan/Feb. I appreciate all the effort by those who track all this stuff and make the threads etc. Thanks for the effort guys.
Is it?

Of course ankings will change, both up and down, but so far out of 8 commits, only 1 bluechip.

Obviously Faizon is a massive bluechip to have, but we need a whole lot more. It would help a lot if we could at least reach Penn St/ND level talent in the next year or two. Our scheme is good enough to make up the remaining gap.

Undefeated “narrative”. 😉 Almost sounds different with you saying the SAME THING. Must be the online accreditation.
