I can't believe that in 2025 we're still using freaking total scoring and total defense to measure defenses in an era where pace and strength-of-schedule matter more than they ever have.Scoring defense: 2024 Vols #7
Army #5, Indiana #6
Total Defense : Indiana #2, Northern Illinois #4, Minnesota #5, UT #6
There you Proof, by your way,
Of ,
You decide:
1: Indiana, Northern Illinois, Minnesota, Army. Had better players
2: had a better DC
Which is it ? Got to be one right?
Because that #6 UT ranking is proof positive!!!
You love to throw that #6 around so what BS You got to say it means something for Ut but the others, nah!
I’ll wait![]()

This was an elite defense on the likes of teams that had far superior talent (Ohio State, Alabama, Oregon, Texas, etc.) and the best we've had in a long, long time. We had some clear weaknesses that got exposed late (slow LB and S that struggled laterally in pass coverage), but that Banks put these numbers together with a flawed unit was an absolutely masterclass. So glad he's coming back.
