Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I can't believe that in 2025 we're still using freaking total scoring and total defense to measure defenses in an era where pace and strength-of-schedule matter more than they ever have.

EPA / Play (SOS- + Pace-Adjusted)
1. Ohio State
2. Notre Dame
3. Tennessee (#1 against rush, #5 against the
4. Texas
5. Alabama
6. Oregon

ESPN Def. Efficiency
1. Notre Dame
2. Texas
3. Ohio State
4. Tennessee
5. Mississippi
6. Penn State

This was an elite defense on the likes of teams that had far superior talent (Ohio State, Alabama, Oregon, Texas, etc.) and the best we've had in a long, long time. We had some clear weaknesses that got exposed late (slow LB and S that struggled laterally in pass coverage), but that Banks put these numbers together with a flawed unit was an absolutely masterclass. So glad he's coming back.
Danny White is smart man because he knows what he has in his coaches..If he felt it was necessary to replace Banks, then that’s exactly what he would’ve done..He has a good track record with hiring/retaining coaches..Not to mention, the defensive stats kinda speak for themselves..🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Could've sworn finishing 8-4 is what got you to "telling us"?? If my memory serves, I believe that I was even associated with the "idiot margin", all for saying I'd be disappointed with an 8-4 record. Am I remembering that wrong, my friend? 😎

Yet, I totally agree...anyone bitching and bellyaching these days, about really anything Vols, **** em. I'm enjoying this ride, knowing that these are the "good ole days" of Vol sports, unlike anything we've ever seen as Big Orange fans...and, I'm alive to be a part of it.
If you're honest you will acknowledge that we pretty easily could have dropped 2 more and gone 8-4.

I think I was pretty close on my predictions of not just the record but the overall ability of this team. I said we should go anywhere from 8-10 wins and that we had several easily identifiable potential weaknesses and thin spots on the roster.

I basically said we were a good to very good team with weaknesses.

Unlike the Idiot Margin..if we had only won 8, I would have been disappointed, but I would not be toxic and screaming to tear it all apart.

I don't know what you would have done...I will not assume that you would be among those morons....the same toxic morons that are constantly bitching despite the fact that this staff extracted about everything they could out of this roster.

I think it is remarkable that despite the small margin for error the staff had with this roster, that we were a running into the kicker penalty from being 11-1....and we wouldn't have been playing the best team in the country at their place in the first round if that had happened.

I am proud of our team and grateful to our staff for this season.

Jimmy the Greek fired

For those old enough…..Jimmy “The Greek” was the Man!

Sad ending to an icon…….idiot

An embarrassed CBS fired a contrite Jimmy (The Greek) Snyder after the sports commentator said in a much-criticized television interview that blacks were “bred” to be better athletes than whites.

Snyder, who outraged civil rights leaders with this and other remarks about blacks in sports, reiterated a “heart-felt apology” he made after the interview was televised Friday, but raised the possibility he may sue CBS for dropping him
