Yeah, I had to dig... it's a weird pension that is setup to really setup beneficiaries better than most (mine included). And with coaches that are making millions per year it inflates to some absurd payouts. So I get why most folks paying taxes in this state get annoyed by it.

Cause $86.5k a year until his death is a big chunk...if he reaches retirement age (when most folks would be eligible to even start withdrawing) he'll have already received over 2.5 million from her pension...sadly my kid won't see that kind of money LOL

It’s a normal state pension. The issue is no one ever envisioned that someone would have an average salary in the millions of dollars a year and qualify for a 30 year state pension. State pensions allow you to name a beneficiary. Your pension is affected by the age of who you choose. Most people choose their spouse but since Pat didn’t have a spouse she choose her son. It reduced what she received while alive because her beneficiary was so young. However it created a nice payment for Tyler for life. On a side note it increases each year based on CPI up to 3%.

Yea, that's some pretty 'bone-headed' decision making and makes me think Tyler was working through some things (loss of his mom?). Personally, when I taught at the college level, I was very careful about not crossing boundaries (and many presented themselves). Oh teacher, is there any way I could get a better grade?

I'm going to be real........... I've never sat through more than a series or two at most of those games my entire life.

The pageantry and atmosphere are kind of cool I guess.......

But the game itself resembles something along the lines of JC football......

Probably an unpopular opinion but I've never found it compelling enough to watch.

The one this this year was better than most. Talent level was definitely higher.

I think Paul Finebaum's show should be on at 1 AM and that time slot should be used to show Classic UT games. I also think his ears could be put to good use as a radar installation or as part of a wind farm or something. I believe it had something to with Elerbe. He’s been pretty vocal about his dislike of him and there was a spat about him saying he only states what’s he has heard and not his opinion. Other people brought screen shots of him voicing his opinion about Elerbe as a gotya moment. Unsure of there was more to it but that’s what I got when I skimmed the thread

The progression of the team is totally dependent on the improvement of the offense. The D is fundamentally sound as is the kicking game. Time to take any limitations off and sink or swim. That means Nico has to take a big step forward and they have to play the young talent everywhere else on O.

And play call the entire offense that you are practicing! So frustrating to see that we have been practicing successfully with split back sets, and some RPO‘s that we still have not used.

Way ahead of the pace of my current GOAT titleholder. Held out for Peyton until Brady willed that maddening win against the Falcons. Unlike Brady, Mahomes was completely beaten in a SB…ironically against Brady’s team.

I wouldn’t judge him about the pension. That’s not his call, it was his mom doing what every single parent would have done to set up their child(ren) for success.

No shame for accepting it. But imagine how much he could be setting his own family up for access by having a job while also accepting the pension.

Perhaps that’s not allowed for this specific pension. I admittedly don’t know the details.

Do you know for certain he’s not working somewhere? And if he’s receiving all that money on top of his wife’s income, how do you know he hasn’t invested that in such a way that he is setting his own family up for success?

Pensions/defined-benefit plans are so complex, why most dropped them. The actuarial business is wild and managing it for thousands of people is...not ideal.

But tbf if you pass, your 401(k) can go to anyone too. Won't be as much ofc.

50% makes some sense though. In 20 years the same dollar will be worth half or less, based just on the fed target inflation rates (no more covid inflation please ).

Still, can someone slide a pension my way please.

I take in to account the circumstances. Excuses are 'appropriate' to an extent in many circumstances. I know when my Mom passed at a younger age, it impacted my behavior for quite a while. Still, you are responsible of course for your own actions.
