No shame for accepting it. But imagine how much he could be setting his own family up for access by having a job while also accepting the pension.

Perhaps that’s not allowed for this specific pension. I admittedly don’t know the details.

A poster took issue with King being negative about Elerbee and wouldn't let it go...was a bit too stubborn. To be fair, it doesn’t help for King to keep voicing any complaints about Elerbee knowing he's not going anywhere, so I get why butchna took issue...but it went on a bit too long.

He made some statements about Elarbee that were contradicted by what the recruit in question said. There were also some apparent internal contradictions. No one attacked him. When asked about it and presented with the apparent contradictions, he alluded to taking a break.

I find it interesting how you framed your response.......

You seem to be saying that King, and others who have critical or negative opinions/facts about the football program should just not express those opinions/facts (at least in this specific area, because, well Elarbee (Heupel's guy) isn't going anywhere. So then we should not post anything critical or negative that cuts against the status quo???

In my own experience, negative posts about the current state of TN Football (and pretty much all things related to UT sports) are met with much more criticism and ferocity than positive posts, and this board has been that way for years. When reading through the various threads, I read more positive posts than negative - but that is just my experience.

This is a board designed for engagement and discussion - I would venture to say that this "chat" board would not have grown to its current size if it was simply an echo chamber. "To each their own" I say.

Insiders carry a lot more influence than people like you and I do though. Nobody cares what we say, but insiders have at least a little ability to turn the masses against a coach or player. King, for example, has hundreds of people on this message board hanging on his every word. With that I think comes an elevated duty to be responsible with his words, which I'm sure he's well aware of and takes seriously.

Attacking? Your being dramatic. And it wasn't being overly generous. You are also misrepresenting with your two points.

I told him I appreciate his recruiting info. He claimed that Elarbee gets no credit for the recruitment, yet the recruit gave him lots of credit. I asked about that. He claimed to be just sharing facts with no opinion on that. Then he admitted that he was just passing on other peoples' "sentiments", i.e. opinions.

I in no way attacked him. I was actually respectful and gave him credit/thanks for his recruiting info. The exchange is still there. Anyone can go read it.

Do you know what's NOT still there? The attacks by the angry-people after the fact. If Butch or myself had attacked him, our posts wouldn't still be there to be read. The admins would have cleaned it up with the name calling that swooped in immediately after.
