Recruiting Football Talk VIII

This is priceless lol... Let me get this straight. Elarbee is guilty of:
1. Trying to get our best OG to return
2. Landing an all-conference OG with 2 years of eligibility
3. Landing a rs-freshman that started on a playoff team with 3 years of eligibility
4. Being willing to plug gaps while the up-and-coming HS guys are only RS-Sophomores next year

If only we just did nothing in the portal and left the OL in the hands of a bunch of underclassmen that haven't played much. What could go wrong...

The point is with better recruiting & development we wouldn’t need to rely so heavily on the portal. We should grow our own for the sake of long term stability.

A person interviews for a job. They have incredible qualifications. You hire them. They turn out to be the best employee you've ever had, making your company tens of thousands of dollars more than expected. . .

Then you find out they lied about all their qualifications, including college degrees. . .

Is it fahr'n time?

And my response is that less than half of SEC OL that eventually become starters do so before their 4th year out of HS. It feels like forever, but that's generally the kind of experience it takes to make a solid SEC OL. If in 2026+ we're still doing what we're doing then I'll buy the arguments, but for now I'm convinced that building through the portal is not only excusable but necessary.

@butchna

Reports are Coen got the same amount of Salary as Ben Johnson and gets to help in the hiring of new GM.🧐
That was a fun one. Went from lock…to going back to the Bucs…to hired after Baalke was catapulted…to more power than Ben Johnson with way less accomplishment. 🤔

That’s the plot for Suits except he knew it all along. Harvey Specter tucked it in the sock though. I think you at least suspend them while they work on the koalavacations or straight up fire for cause. You can’t expose your company like that.
