Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Don't have it, but 150 is insanely steep for a 6yr, 7 month aged bourbon. General rule of thumb is $10 for every year aged. Not always tried and true, but that's usually what I'm willing to spend on a bottle. OTOH it's a fairly unique mashbill and proceeds go to Vol Club. I would have hard time believing the juice itself is worth 150 though.
It’s for winning and grinning.

One difference is them (and everyone else) holding our guys when they're moving without the ball. We run more off-ball motion than most of our opponents and as Coach has said, the refs refusal to enforce freedom of movement rules is a huge impediment to our offensive effectiveness. It another reason we seem to do better when the drive and dish (because we're not dependent on the motion to get us good looks). So when the refs decide (like Sunday) to start calling various forms of contact a lot more (and you're right it was highly random) than normal, but they don't call the holding and grabbing more frequently as well; then we find ourselves at a distinct disadvantage. Especially with our limited depth. If they had increased the holding/grabbing calls as well then UF would have had a few foul out as well and we'd have shot more foul shots. No ideas if we would have won, but it would have been a tight game.

Yeah will be interesting to see how the teams we see in the tournament defend it. SEC teams usually just hold until it's called, but we could see teams letting us move freely and Chaz might have a huge night against someone.

We played Wofford last year early in the season. Was close in the 1st half, but then we separated in the 2nd half...shot over 40% from deep Santi went 3 of 6 and Gainey 4 of 10 (the 2 guards that were used most in our motion offense last year). ZZ was still coming back from ACL though so was a bit of an odd lineup, Shack started and ran point.

7 of their current players were here for that game...we of course are a completely different team than the one they faced last year.

Same. I never wanted to be seen playing golf.

Not that I was embarrassed to be playing golf, I just didn’t want anyone to know how bad at it I was.
My friends used to give me crap about playing golf when I was in Jr High and HS……thank goodness I was ok at baseball…….

Now that’s all my old friends do is play golf …….

Tiger did make it “cooler”

I agree the officiating was awful, but they also called some on Florida that could be debated too. I don’t think the fix was in, we have to play at a top level to beat Florida in every aspect & we simply didn’t.

We didn’t hit enough 3s & we didn’t rebound well enough (especially our bigs).

Now the tight whistle, definitely played a part in some of that especially rebounding.

The game we beat them, we held them under 25% FG & 15% 3PT and out rebounded them, that didn’t happen today.

Not a “fix” imo, a tight whistle from an inconsistent SEC crew & it impacted both teams.
That was a conference championship game. A known "inconsistent" SEC crew, should not have been assigned to officiate it. It's not fair to either team or their fans.

Not a good look at all. I was curious about the excuse for the injury.

When people start discussing committee decisions, this is why some have no faith in them. The committees are made up of AD's or people tied to the very schools they are associated with. Just the mere fact that Cunningham is the AD at UNC can influence what the rest of the committee decides. It's simply about ratings and the almighty dollar, and we continue to lose integrity in sports.
Well who do you think should make up the Committees? Since you believe no AD's or individuals tied to other schools. There's not much to choose from ..

Since everyone is discussing seeding today, I have a thought.

1). Have committee meet and rank criteria for selecting teams.

2). List all teams / records / data committee is looking at for their criteria.

3). Remove the team names and then build your brackets. Enter Auto qualifiers first and then those deserving based on committee criteria.

4). Reapply team names to their records/data.

You have your bracket.

Eliminates bias.

Ben Joyce makes Angels Opening Day roster and looks like Moore will start out in Minor league. Probably Double A then in Big League by June.

Dollander in Triple A and Drew Gilbert in Triple A ...

Trey Lipscomb on Nationals Opening Day roster..
Methinks those LSU, Andy, and Arky trolls are losing the narrative of Tony producing big leaguers. It was only a matter of time anyway. Let’s count the lost troll narratives:

• Can’t produce big leaguers
• Little league park
• Can’t win the conference
• Can’t win in Omaha
• No championship rings
• #1 overall can’t win the natty

The list goes on. Tony don’t care, and we’re blessed for it.

There's a difference between a badly officiating game impacting us and "the fix is in"

I'm not disputing anything you're saying, but a proper fix is a completely lopsided whistle which against Florida I didn't really feel like we got. I think both teams got called for a lot of fouls and just as many that were missed. It benefited them because they're a lot deeper than us.

It was a good SECT for us though, the amount of foul calls should give us some stuff to work on so we can try and avoid having the same issue in the big tournament.
It's not about whether it was lopsided or not...it was about the fact that everybody involved with CBB knows that if you don't let us play tight defense...we are probably not going to win, especially against a team like Florida.

It was a garbage move, and it was obvious from the very start that they were not going to let us play.

The only way we were going to win that game is if we had gotten a team offensive performance like the Mizzou game...and we are not built to do that very much.

We will probably lose the first game in the tournament in which we run into a really good scoring team, and they neuter our defense by calling it tight...a bunch of ticky tack 🦬💩 like yesterday that forces us to play softer.

I think it was on purpose...and I said right before the game started that we would know within the first few minutes if they were going to let us play defense or not...and that if they did not we would get run.

We need more depth and more guys that can score to win games like that...and we do not have either this year.
