Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Well who do you think should make up the Committees? Since you believe no AD's or individuals tied to other schools. There's not much to choose from ..
Not for me to figure out, but anyone on the committee whose compensation is tied up in the decisions is clearly an issue.

There are a few mid major conference commissioners. AD's at mid major schools whose conferences will only get one bid. Maybe recently retired coaches who aren't in the media. I hate to even suggest it, but there are a few media members who live and breath it.

Bracket should be a cruise to an elite 8. Easiest overall draw I’ve seen as a vol fan ever. Kentucky ain’t making it past round 2 but even if they do, they aren’t that good and hell would freeze before they beat the same team 3 times. Neither second round opponent exactly put fear in me. Houston is by far the best matchup for 1 seeds besides Auburn for us (which was never gonna happen anways) But that’s not how March works always, can’t get caught slipping

Yeah after the 1st round, I always look at it like Round of 32 (semblance of a top 25 team), Sweet 16 (semblance of a top 15 team), Elite 8 (Top 10 team), so on and so forth. Not saying that's where that team was ranked in the polls necessarily, but the type of game/matchup it is.

There's a difference between a badly officiating game impacting us and "the fix is in"

I'm not disputing anything you're saying, but a proper fix is a completely lopsided whistle which against Florida I didn't really feel like we got. I think both teams got called for a lot of fouls and just as many that were missed. It benefited them because they're a lot deeper than us.

It was a good SECT for us though, the amount of foul calls should give us some stuff to work on so we can try and avoid having the same issue in the big tournament.
I disagree. What would be necessary would be to turn the tide at decisive moments. And even better to prepare the ground for it earlier. Plausible deniability is preferred to desperation.

The kind of thing you describe — from beginning to end — would amount to clumsy desperation, which might happen. But meaningless “balancing calls” in “clean up time” are well observed.

I’m not taking a position on that game being fixed in saying this.

Since everyone is discussing seeding today, I have a thought.

1). Have committee meet and rank criteria for selecting teams.

2). List all teams / records / data committee is looking at for their criteria.

3). Remove the team names and then build your brackets. Enter Auto qualifiers first and then those deserving based on committee criteria.

4). Reapply team names to their records/data.

You have your bracket.

Eliminates bias.

I love it!! However, it makes too much sense, it's too transparent, and it's too fair. They'll never do it. 🫤

Honestly, I think the ncaa should’ve never allowed juco players to get an extra year of eligibility in football or basketball like Pavia. However, they should make it across the board if they’re going to do it, not just fb and bball and exclude baseball players like berto
On top of that, they are in JUCO for a reason, and many of the good athletes aren’t there because of lack of talent. That’s their fault. Why should they get rewarded for not having their grades in line in HS?

Agreed for the most part, but places like Walters State CC is a good place for under recruited baseball players to be able to showcase their talents and get recruited, that and summer leagues
