His first play and I was like “who the hell is Bishop?!“ and he just kept showing out. But he’s from a small school IIRC and that gets you overlooked a lot, especially if you’re not in a hotbed of recruiting.kid mustve had some hurdles. he is extremely talented. i dont recall him having a ton of offers
Hate to say, but similar impression of OL (in the run game). I thought protection was good for the most part.Rewatching the game to see if my first impressions hold up to scrutiny.
First impressions were that the O line was a bit of a letdown, I expected them to impose their will. The running backs did well great vision and being decisive. The linebackers didn't clean up as well as I feel they should have. The DB's weren't really tested but for the most part they were where they were supposed to be. Nico looks polished, he has a grasp of the offense and where his trade are supposed to be.
On the deep throw by Nico to Thornton Jr to the left side of the field, I had to stop and post. His footwork was amazing to the point that when he saw the receiver was going to beat coverage he released the ball in under a second. That may be the most impressive thing IMO as such a young and inexperienced QB..... That's a top tier QB throw at every level, recognition, footwork, delivery and touch were impeccable.
Cam is a good runner but isn't where he needs to be in pass pro. I've seen a couple of plays where he was indecisive and it cost yardage.
The o line wasnt as disappointing as I originally thought. Mostly technique and form issues that should iron themselves out. For instance a holding call that happened on a Nico scramble, the lineman just let the defender get under and gain leverage, he had control but when the defender released to make the tackle his hands were over the top and it made an exaggerated jersey pull that refs see every time.
Not the cleanest to be sure lol. But lower violent crime rates than nashville or memphis. I'd say glad to live in ET.SF used to be one of the great American cities. I refuse to visit until they clean it up. Damn glad to live in TN and the south.
Remember mapquest? . Always needed a printer and mapquest before a trip.Funny, at my in laws. Just walked past a Rand McNally Atlas. Thing is 100 pages of maps.
Recall being nervous driving across the Country, solo in my 20's. Not a single cell phone within miles.
I hadnt realized by Mom had gone through and highlighted the route for me. Was just a straight line for pages. Fun times.
Miss being to disconnect.
Only reason I'd leave Ole Miss would be because it's in Mississippi. With the way things are in todays college football, I believe more coaches are going to just be happy where they are and not jump ship as quickly as they used to.
Ole Miss has money, and like ya'll said, the pressure isn't as intense.
I think that is more Sampson. He’s not quite built for power running though he can do it. He was getting swallowed on shovel passes. Fortunately we realized that quickly and started feeding him screens. We need a bruiser for some runs though. Sampson is a fantastic back though. I just don’t think we have the TVA out there to send him straight down the opponents throat every play.Hate to say, but similar impression of OL (in the run game). I thought protection was good for the most part.
Was surprised we couldn't open up gaping holes to run through though.
Oh well, we've seen the OL start slow the past few years then ramp up to top notch form.
