I was watching their game thinking that he had heart, and he is definitely a huge improvement for Vanderbilt and will help them (already has). However, all I could keep thinking during the game was that he won't play a full season.

He is not like Manziel in many ways, but the most glaring is that he lets himself get hit too much. Manziel knew when to slide or duck out of bounds.

Lowering your shoulder against VaTech is one thing. You're gonna try to go toe-to-toe with SEC LBs and Safeties all season long? No amount of confidence can make you Super Man. Even if he is tougher than 99% of players, what happens when the starters on offense start dropping through natural roster attrition? You can't do it on your own.

I will always remember Jamal Lewis the last two scoring drives in this game. Every touch those last couple drives he was ripping off 10-15 yard runs and put the team on his back. Was a lot like Travis Henry against Arkansas.

If not for him in the 4th quarter, we lose the game, because the passing game was struggling. Averaged over 7 yards per carry that game.

I listened to that earlier this morning. I could tell right away the NCST guys have zero clue what they are talking about when they started talking about how bad our secondary is. A completely new secondary with new players across the board and you’re gonna say they’re bad after one game? Shows how much research they did before talking out of their ass. And for him to then talk about how their O-line could neutralize JPJ? These people are living in a fantasy world.

Lol. Sure - neutralize Pearce and watch as West, Josephs, Hobbs, Herring, Ross and Bailey flatten guys in the backfield. Fine with me.

Even last year's secondary was better than WCU, so it's kind of a moot point.

Of interest, he ignored the average-ness of their WR room, concentrated on their one WR that may supposedly be able to take over the game, and then made things up about us having defensive secondary issues. lol

Honestly the WNBA and the Clark situation is a prime example of why that league hasn't previous been taken serious.

It's as close to a "good old boys" club as any pro league around right now. If they're smart she's essentially their version of Magic Johnson....isn't the primary scorer and is the best passer on the team, but also rebounds and is a mismatch because of her size against most guards that she will face but is quicker than most forwards that try to defend her.

The question is who can be their version of Larry Bird because it sure as hell isn't Angel Reese. I think it could be Paige Bueckers, but won't know until next year.

I just found the full game on YT of that Syracuse game, gonna rewatch.

McNabb was in full Heisman mode that day 22 of 28 for 300 yards 2 TDs and ran for 53 yards and another TD. Thankfully Jamal Lewis and Tee were gashing their defense on the ground, if Tee had been more accurate it wouldn't have been a single point win. He went 9 of 26 for 143 yards passing...

Yep, that was the game where it took good fortune (getting the PI call, even though it was a good call, on the road). I felt sure we had let that first one get away and frankly after that game I never expected '98 to go the way it did.

The Arky game is the one remembered for us being "lucky" but in fact it was only a blown call on rules that even resulted in us being behind at the end. Billy Ratlliff would have had to force Stoerner to "stumble & fumble" if the refs had made the correct call on bad punt snap they kicked out of their own end zone at the 3:00 mark. By the rule, it should have been 1st and goal inside their 5 yard line (half the distance to the goal from where the illegal kick took place), not a safety as the ref called it. With roughly 2 minutes remaining, Ark would have had to try to drive for a game tying field goal or game winning TD. But winning the way we did sure as heck made for a lot more drama in a championship season.

It can potentially give Memphis’ new AD a chance to fire for probable cause.
