Honestly, not sure I'd say Dan Hurley is the best coach.

You walk into a sleeping giant blue blood like UConn where both previous coaches stretching back to the 80s have won National Championships. Not exactly an uphill climb.

He's currently 6th in winning % for former Head Coaches there too.

Back to back National titles so he is without question in the discussion...but other than the titles I'd say Kelvin Samspon is hard to argue against, especially considering he's built Houston into the brand it is.

Mark Few when/if he can ever win it all will cement himself as one of the best as well.

Last 3 years, sure it's Hurley...but before 2022-23 he wasn't really doing anything.

He took Rhode Island to the tournament 2x, something they hadn’t accomplished in 18 years. Took them to the round of 32 in b2b years, the first time that’s ever happened in school history.

In two years at Wagner, Dan took them from a 5 win program to a 26 win team.

Then he took over a completely dead program at a (7-23) Rhode Island and eventually rebuilt them. Top 25 level team for a couple years, winning two A10 titles and two NCAA games before parlaying that into the UConn job.

UConn had really fallen apart and he rebuilt them and had two of the more dominant teams I've ever seen.

So uh, he wasn't exactly "not doing anything"

I follow URI basketball, because of random reasons, lol so I've know who Dan is for a while. He's just a psycho that straight up loses his damn mind at refs. Never heard him say anything that cringe worthy, but he's otherwise a really good person, who is not fake at all and his players would die for him.

I would have neverrrrr thought he would coach at the level he is right now. Those last two UConn teams are absurdly well coached. And lol there was a point at URI where they wanted him fired 😂

However, after realizing the captain of the taken vessel was an Englishman, Kidd tried to persuade his crew to return the ship to its owners but they refused. Thus, Kidd changed his focus and took his prize claiming it was legal prey for an English privateer. Unfortunately, when news of the deed reached England, along with horrifying tales of torture, the British East India Company declared Kidd a pirate. Various naval commanders were ordered to "pursue and seize the said Kidd and his accomplices" for the "notorious piracies" they had committed.
