Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Vols play Oklahoma State at 4:05 p.m. in the Houston Classic. Games supposedly can be streamed on Astros.com and Houston Astros on You Tube for free. I suppose we will see.

No Vols are participating at the NFL combine today it's the DB's and TE's day.
Are there still some drills for DL and LBs that didn’t get finished last night? I don’t see a lot of they guys times in the short shuttle and 3 cone drill, not any bench press numbers

Some individuals didn't do all the drills. Maybe the Bench press will be done non televised... I just know the schedule states it's the DB's and TE's today...

Wow. I looked up Mickey Thompson mudders and this is what popped up. . . I didnt know this.

Edit* I searched mickey thkmpson mudders on accident. If you spell it right, the tires come up. . .
Spelling is not my strong suit and the internet has no mercy. I looked up a hot rod company ”Harewood” years ago, misspelled it “Hardwood” 😱😳🥹

We really just need a wholesale change to the transfer portal, college athletics, and eligibility rules ASAP. I’m getting exhausted by the constant contradictions. For context, although Pavia has been ruled eligible, this morning a judge denied the waiver for a Georgia baseball player. It’s not looking good for Alberto Osuna.

Personally, I actually support the NCAA here, because I’m tired of seeing 25-28 year olds in college sports. BUT, it makes zero sense that one judge can say Pavia is eligible and another can say this Georgia baseball player is ineligible, in cases that are almost carbon copies of one another.

How can eligibility rules be deemed “non-commercial” for the Georgia player, but the opposite be true for Pavia? Just exhausting.

It’s how federal courts work. Different district court judges can reach a different conclusion. If appealed, it will go to the circuit court. Tennessee and Georgia are in different circuits so the circuit courts could still reach different results. Then it could bubble up to the Supreme Court for ultimate resolution.

I’m well aware how courts work. That’s my entire point. This piece-meal approach to college athletics where different rules apply in different jurisdictions is unhealthy for the sport. It’s not just eligibility rules, it’s the entire ecosystem that has no uniformity.

I guess you better get busy reworking our whole legal system.

That hurts a little😳
I was talking with a friend of mine about an older couple who lived two houses down from us when I was a kid. This would have been around 1968-69 so I was 10-11 years old. Anyway dad would have my brother and I go help them with odd jobs as he had been severely wounded in WW1 🫡
It dawned on me that I’ve had conversations with someone born in the 1800s😱
Wait till you meet @InVOLuntary , @BaldBiker , @Orangeredblooded , or myself. @Orangeredblooded is the youngest and she is at least in her 1800s. I am now in trouble for being even remotely close to telling her age. 😳

@InVOLuntary and @BaldBiker are almost twice that old…it’s why they call her kiddo. 😊
And I am the oldest by a little bit. 🤠

Damn. Reminds me of that time I ran a 40.6 forty in jeans and flip flops after drinking beer all day, during SEC fan experience. 🫣😆

Damnit my knees hurt thinking out that.

If you can visualize a saltine cracker moving at a medium pace across the Georgia Dome basement floor, yeah its kinna like that.
