It's most definitely possible others didn't hear it, especially when 2 guys are in close quarters during sacks. I've played plenty of basketball with people speaking under their breath. You are assuming the opposite. I am merely saying the possibility is there. Slur or not, words are words and all can be said at low volume.

It’s possible only Garrett heard it I agree but was is much less possible is Garrett didn’t tell everyone he came into contact with right after that js was said

The fact he told no one is the part that makes his story very unbelievable

Teammates would have no way of knowing this for certain fwiw. Only he and Mason really know what was said or not said face to face. Let's not equivocate teammates having never heard this narrative to omniscience.

Maybe. But unless Rudolph whispered it, their were literally 2 OL standing on top of them. Plus, when watching the replay, it happens so quick, and it looks pretty clear that Rudolph just takes offense to Garrett’s bear hug and his failure to let go.

I don't know if it happened or not, but it happens all the time. He was upset and said what he really thinks. Look at his actions he punched the man in the private parts twice. Then he further escalated it by chasing after him. Check out below how Paris doesn't escalate it further by chasing Vernon. Also with so many folks in the stadium, it's possible that he said it low enough were only Garrett could hear him.

Nonsense. Garrett is lying. Gtfo here with this BS

Wouldn't the fact that he was a Memphis alum override all of that? Seems to me that even if he had never given a dime to Memphis, but everything else stayed the same, he should be in hot water.

Also, a high school bb coach shouldn't be able to take a college coaching job and then recruit players who played for him in hs. There are limits on fb coaches doing that. It would have even more of an impact in bb.

I don’t know of any limits at all. You can’t recruit kids at your high school if you are hired in a support position. But an assistant or head coach can recruit players at a former high school.

"He" = Penny. Yes, he should be in trouble. He is not. I believe he should be. If he had never been a booster? I don't know of rules in place against that. You would think there would be had the money-giver still become a coach. Either way, smart bag networks would have their bagmen be non-boosters...

That's an excellent point. Couldn't Kenyatta Watson Sr not be a coach anywhere his son went? And Rush Propst too? Hmm

They can be a coach all day long. They can’t be hired as a support staff member. You can’t hire them as an analyst or quality control person and also get their son.

Definitely agree as to the probability there. Totally separate issue.

From MG's narrative, it sounded like he's claiming it happened before this play.

Just like they did North Carolina?

First of all, Memphis isn’t UNC. The NCAA protects its historically elite programs. UNC is one of those; Memphis is not.

Aside from that, UNC got away with academic fraud because the fake classes there were being offered to all students—not just athletes. That may seem like a technicality, but it makes a huge difference with regard to NCAA rules. The classes being offered to everyone means athletes were not receiving special treatment (at least not in the eyes of the NCAA).

What Memphis did was to blatantly thumb their nose at the NCAA when told that one of their players was most likely ineligible. I wouldn’t be surprised if the NCAA makes an example of UM for that blatant disregard of NCAA authority—much like they made an example of Bruce Pearl when they caught him in a lie.

Who is advising Myles Garrett? I even think Rudolph should be suspended for his actions but whoever is advising Garrett should take a step back. The only thing that would make this worse is throwing out this allegation and it being not true. For him the NFL has Rudolph mic’d up and reviewed the sounds and found no such evidence of this. It just went from bad to worse cause now he’s a race baiting liar as well. I think it’s telling that his teammates were distancing themselves from him and the allegation today

That's the limit I speak of. A high school fb coach must be an on field coach for one of his high school players to play for his college team. And there are very good reasons for that limit. But a single bb player can have a much more significant impact on a team than can a fb player, therefore I think the restrictions should be much greater on bb players.

So sick of this excuse. Anytime a AA does something to get in trouble, they pull the racial slur card..

Anyone who believes that's is dumb as a bag of hammers..

Why TF would Rudolph call him a racial slur when all his teammates around him are black. Gtfo here with that bs
It is not at all true that every African American plays the race card when that get in trouble. It is BS in this case, but there are plenty of black players who own up when they do something wrong. Saying that this happens all the time is horribly inaccurate.

You're stating your opinion like it's fact. You have no way of knowing who might have heard something or not.

UT Coach Rick Barnes surprises Sweetwater H.S. manager in the most special way

Stole this from the basketball forum. Figured everyone needed to see this. Warning eyes may water.

Great story.

However, Knoxville journalism must be attached to Knoxville radio... that was horribly written. Read like a children’s book. I don’t get it. Why is Knoxville media so lame?? I’m moving there in 2 weeks and I’m going to miss Nashville radio and news. Thank God for iHeartRadio.

I’m not saying he won’t be good, however, I feel like his redshirt was burned for no reason. (I know it’s not technically burned) but he is going to play the remainder of the years he is in Tennessee so he won’t ever use one unless he gets hurt.
No way we could make it through the season with just chandler and Jordan

The reason people like Garrett and Smollett do this is exactly because they know there are idiots who want to believe it, and even if they don't really believe it will still make excuses for it...saying dumb crap like "nobody really knows, he could have said it, or it could have happened"...
