Yeah, like I said, I’m not against it. You almost have to do it for recruiting purposes. But using Butch as justification is faulty logic, IMO.

Eh... ESPN's bit about Pruitt is a non-story mixed with a smattering of too much interference on his part to make it sound worse than it probably was. New coaches are going to bring in their own staffs a lot of times and Pruitt obviously forced out a lot of people that had been there through a lot of different coaches and some of them are upset about it. Those jobs are as political as they are skills based and they lost out on the political side. He probably did try and force their hand at times but it's their job to tell him 'no' if it's in an athlete's medical best interest.

Him being pushy isn't a story though. It's a workplace annoyance that happens on every team.

You were going to have to extend Pruitt even if we went 3-9 this year. It was the only way to salvage a recruiting class or potential assistants coming or going. Extend and give your coach a raise all you want, just always keep their buyout do-able bc you never really know.

He’ll have to prove otherwise. I accept it as fact but he’s steering our ship for now and we go as he goes 👍🏻

You can bump them all you want lol. This staff was god awful the first month of the year. Most people were trying to talk them selves into believing we had a worse roster than Vanderbilt lol. I’m happy as hell they saved this year but they are still plenty of questions on the field and recruiting. We just have to cross our fingers and hope we get lucky and keep building.

I didn't say I was bumping them, idjit, I said I know how much you like to bump your own. Kinda your thing.

If I was gonna bump any, it would either be your guarantee that we wouldn't make a bowl if we hired Chaney.
Or the time you bumped that same guarantee and added "I tried to tell you all. Har, har har".
Tough choice.

Just commenting on the stories of the day:

When I was in the 9th grade there was a time when I had the flu. It came at a very inconvenient time and it was unusual because I almost never get sick. I was involved in the Optimist Club’s speech contests and it was in the middle of basketball season. I had won the district competition with my speech and was set for the regionals. My mom wouldn’t let me go to either the speech contest or play in the basketball game that was coming up. I stayed in bed; I was trying to get well really fast. Eventually she caved and let me go give my speech. I still had a little temperature. It’s been almost exactly 50 years and I still think I should have been able to play in that basketball game. Seriously, I do. I probably wouldn’t have done any better than I did in the speech contest but I still wanted to play.

When I was 21 years old and on the submarine in the Navy there was this one time when we were running drills that the Captain ordered me to violate my procedure. Almost any engineering drill begins with a reactor scram (shutdown). There are procedures that you have to follow to bring the power systems back on line. One of those is once you get steam back you blow down all the steam lines to get all the condensate out. You do not want water going through your turbines. Another thing you have to do is warm up the turbines by rolling them at slow speed for about 10 minutes. The reason is you need to have even heating of the rotor before you start spinning it at 1800 rpm. Well the Captain was impatient and he told me to put one of the SSTG’s (Turbine driven generators) on line right now. I said, “Yes Sir.” Then I proceeded to go through my normal warmup and followed my procedure to the letter and about 10 minutes later reported to maneuvering that the starboard side SSTG was ready for electrical loading.

I’ve always had this sneaky suspicion that there was something special about Marquez Callaway. I, too, do not like cheese but I agree you have to have cheese on a pizza or it’s probably not really a pizza. All my life when ordering pizza I’ve order it “lite on the cheese.”

I was looking at our roster yesterday and it looks like next year, depending on how things shake out, we may have between 25 and 30 seniors/redshirt seniors on our team. Wow.

Giving Butch an extension when he hadn't earned it is what saddled us with his buyout that we're still paying.

I'm impressed what Pruitt's done this season after how it started, but in my eyes he hasn't earned a raise and extension yet. His teams need to play consistently for an entire season and at least still be in the running to win the East at the start of November first.
