I don’t understand why more people aren’t of this mindset. Getting smoked by a top program isn’t good no matter how you spin it.
All my stupid arguing, joking and normal immature snarky comments over a stupid game from me aside...
I would like to ask you guys and gals to please pray for my mother..I am in Knoxville taking a turn staying with her this morning..the different chemos, immunotherapy and radiation treatments gave not impeded the progress of her cancer at all. There will be no more treatments. The lesions in her brain are impeding her mentally, and the ones in her lungs are pressing on her esophagus making it hard for her to eat when she is hungry, plus of course the difficulty in breathing.
This is hard...and I HATE IT so much.
Thanks.
Soda, i think you are misrepresenting the discussion in a smaller conversation by tryin to sensationalize the entire boards discussion in response to me, not accurate at all. Kiffin has multiple national championship rings. Coaches don't get those by being bad coaches. I never said anything about Texas, check my stats. I'll explain it to you in simple terms; I did not say I was worried about him in relationship to UT recruiting, I did not say he would be successful at OM, I was not oohing and ahhing, I simply said he is a good coach and I don't think it's a bad hire / chance for OM to take... National championship at Texas? Where did you get that from in my posts? I'm sure you'll side step the posts I made and make a generalized comment / response and lump me into the posts by others. Seeing as how your posting rather late in the am, I'll chalk it up to sleep deprivation.Wait... So anyone of the opinion that LK hasn't done anything to warrant all this oooohing and ahhhhing is someone that just "hates him" and can't see what a good coach he is, but it's not a bromance for others to take the same accomplishments and act like has won a national championship at Texas? Right. This is the whole conversation....his accomplishments.
I wouldn't call Northwestern a significant opponent. I remember the dark horse talks. I was thinking more along the lines of recruiting as opposed to media talk. Nobody is going to remember an ass smacking of a lesser opponent but if we played a Michigan in a close one, he could roll up in the living room of a kid and really be able to sell progress and direction of the program. That’s not true. We always had a lot of buzz about us going into the next year. Especially going into 2016. A lot of People had us as a dark horse playoff team.
Eh. No bowl games really matter any more than others unless you’re in a N6 bowl or playoff on a national scale to people that don’t have ties to TN imo. But i would counter that when the media is talking about you especially the people pegging us as east favorites and playoff dark horses going into the next year that helps more in recruiting than the actual game its self.I wouldn't call Northwestern a significant opponent. And the opposite?
We beat a big opponent, best possible outcome. Lose to someone we're supposed to lose to, no real harm.
Beat a meh, good feelz but no real gain. Lose to a meh, because too many are out or any/whatever reason, it will suck all around.
That's not my position and I'm fine wherever we end up. But being dismissive of other's take on this, is silly.
Stay strong, our thoughts and prayers are with you.All my stupid arguing, joking and normal immature snarky comments over a stupid game from me aside...

You're right about the value of bowl games. Sometimes you get an intriguing matchup but otherwise they are almost forgettable. In the end, all of this talk really doesn't matter. I think Pruitt has us pointed in the right direction regardless.Eh. Read all Ramsey’s (MCB President) comments here. It’s absolutely going to be us.
Music City Bowl's Scott Ramsey discusses Vols' chances of playing in Nashville
"Tennessee specifically, they did not play at Vanderbilt this year and no bowl game last year, so we feel like with a Monday afternoon game and a chance to really reach out and maximize the opportunity to the fans to participate in the program and the players to play in front of a full stadium, we think we have the right opportunity.”
Could he be any more self-servingly tone-deaf?
