It's like you're new to recruiting/player development or something...
Arguably our best CB came in as a WR...our ILB was an OLB, Banks was a RB, Bennett was a DT, Crouch a RB, Jennings a QB...and it goes on. The players you want, and the players this staff has proven to recruit are the guys that want to make an impact and play. I don't know where Whitehead ends up, and he'll 100% start camp at RB if that's really what he wants. Staff isn't going to force anything, but from the standpoint of making it to the pros chances are higher and the payday bigger for longer if you do it at LB.
Just looking at the senior years.I didn't say that exactly. I said he doesn't appear to have good arm strength in his videos and short arms the ball.
It isn't fair to judge without knowing what kind of receivers he had but he only threw 10 or 12 TD passes also.
Anyone who has read my comments knows that I'm not ready to jump on board for Bailey either. He's highly thought of but I am trying to compare to other Vol QB recruits. I haven't seen him do anything in his highlight videos more impressive than what JG did in his. That's certainly not bad... I'm just not ready to coronate either of these signees.
Well yeah, but that is already known. But most kids don't want a year away from playing. It's a passion.Say he goes No. 1 overall, what does that say to future lottery picks? Is there any need to play college ball? Or can they can just sign with an agent who fronts them money to just train for a year or play overseas?
Money will talk when he's buried in the depth chart and Pruitt shows him his path to making millions and millions as an LB. Pruitt coaching you at LB is like a free winning lottery ticket. Kid won't pass it up. May just take a year or two for him to ask for it, like you said.Just like Pruitt said in his ESD press conference: Those players asked to be moved once they realized they had a better chance at playing time at a different position. The coaches are not going to move him. He is going to have to ask to move to LB. Is it possible that happens? Absolutely. But he is going to have to fail at RB first AND realize he is failing at RB before he asks to be moved. Based on what we know about him, for both of those 2 things to happen it could take some time. I understand completely how recruiting/development works. This staff is going to play the players where they want to play if they have a strong desire to play that position, especially when it has been discussed during recruitment.
There’s a ton of factors that I’m honestly just too lazy to go into detail to on mobile . SorryI mean someone like @nicksjuzunk can speak to this better than me, but in all my experience the guys who you can add "good" weight to fast are usually the dude's that haven't got the thunder thighs.
Also Holiday is probably never playing QB except in the wildcat. He had 1020 passing yards last year, and over 1400 rushing in both seasons. He's a "ball in the hands" guy more than anything else. Probably ends up at WR and a likely candidate to return kicks & punts.
I was comparing the apparent arm talent from the videos... that's all. There's a lot that goes into those stats not the least of which is the talent around them.Just looking at the senior years.

On highlights they may look similar, which makes sense, but we never saw the lowlights. JG has always had the tools, but he never had elite production, never carried a team. Bailey has been a huge part of his team’s success, and was way more productive across the board, against much stronger competition.

In short, we don’t know how much training experience he has, and thus how far along the development scale he already is.
Also, most D1 athletes are already genetic outliers, which is why they play ball at Tennessee, and we talk about how we could run a 4.8 40 back in the day with a strong wind at our backs
