Obviously you're entitled to your beliefs. All we can control is our attitudes toward things. Not trying to preach.

Just sayibg, we really have no control over any of this. All we can do is our best. Yes, it is hard, and honestly will get harder.
If our forefathers had believed the "no control" part, we would still be paying taxes to a European government.

Caution is prudent, but sacrificing freedom for lives is the exact opposite of what the first 200 years of this country were about.

Executive branches in most states and cities have far over-reached their constitutional authority. At some point, regardless of what the virus does, that limit has to be restored.

I wholeheartedly agree with your first paragraph.

However, I absolutely love the all Orange uniforms and the Storm Trooper white away uniforms. I also love the White Jersey Orange pants.

I never got to see it, bu I wish that the Tennessee Bama game would go back to both teams wearing their home jerseys at every game like they did in the 50s and early 60s. The Orange vs the crimson looked great in the old films. I wish that CJP would challenge saban to do that starting this year.

Basically, any Tennessee Jersey that’s Orange and White is great to me.
Agree completely..... I love orange. I don't really care for the black but realize the players and younger people do. Just so they make the whole uniform look good with the orange "popping" instead of the black or white.

A little off the thread subject, BUT -----
DO WE NEVER OFFER ANYONE FROM THE STATE OF TENNESSEE???
Now don't say yes, if the are good enough. I feel there are quiet a few Tennessee high schoolers that are as good and the size or better as some of these "offers".

take a lap.

Seeing Mack Brown doing work makes you wonder...

Could Phil have really righted the ship and gotten it done?
With how competitive the SEC became, I don't think we ever could have gotten back to what Phil had in the 90s. BUT, having said that, I think our floor for the past decade would have been 7 or 8 rather than 4 or 5. He had a monster recruiting class that included Tajh Boyd and Bryce Petty coming in when he was fired. He could still recruit. I feel confident that if we'd just kept Fulmer we'd probably have another couple of wins over Florida and Georgia and maybe would've picked off Saban at least once.

@bignewt may have some thoughts on this....

I thought Phil was on the decline but I also thought we should have handled it better. Phil should have been offered to have 2 more years and a retirement year where he transitioned into a role within the athletic department and brought up his predecessor, I wanted Cuttcliffe. Dang Hamilton was a giant douche that destoryed us for a decade. Phil's love for UT is beyond question, this has the feeling of the 90's program now. If football succeeds every sport succeeds.

I personally couldn't give a crap less what state a kid plays in as long as they're good. Honestly, I'd rather pull kids from Georgia and Florida mainly due to the better competition. I know we have a few good schools in TN too, but overall the caliber of competition is better in other states we're pulling from. To be elite, we have to be able to recruit nation wide. There's plenty of kids from TN that we've offered. Hopefully we snag a few. If they choose to play elsewhere, so be it.

We were battling a Monarchical/Authoritarian Gov't. A virus isn't going away with gunpowder, man.

This is a once in a lifetime public health emergency. Id say most local and State Gov't's have done quite well, considering they're getting **** for help from up North.

It helps the university too. I believe it was Joe Johnson who described athletics as the "front porch" of the university. As a prof I'm always flabbergasted by colleagues of mine who don't see the benefit good athletics programs bring all of us.

I remember the animosity towards Phil here in ‘08. It’s easy to dismiss it now but it was ugly. “He just sits on his fat ass and takes the check and ruins our football program.” Hamilton very likely made the right decision by firing him. The bad decision was hiring Kiffin, although in the immediate aftermath it was absolutely the correct hire. This fanbase was as amped as I’ve ever seen it. Should’ve put a hefty USC buyout in the contract tho.

Has this been the greatest week in Tennessee football recruiting history? I know the guys still need to sign but just from a commitment standpoint. We have added a lot of stars this week and sounds like we still aren't done.
Fulmer probably had 10 or more weeks like this.

I mean that entire staff was epic.

If they stayed together for 3 years they would have been rolling.

Or on probation- ha ha

It seems like a lot of Tennessee recruits want everything to be given to them on a silver platter because they saw how Butch recruited. Pruitt has been honest with recruits and it seems like the Tennessee kids aren't responding well to it. Painting with a broad brush here.
