I guess it's fear of missing out. I like to read everything, and the idiots make me laugh or make me mad but dammit I just want to feel something! You’d need to smoke less green if you used that function. Best feature on the site. Evenmoreso on VQ, I have maybe 50% of the posters on ignore over there.
Such a weird dynamic to this thread. There's the side of "Pruitt is the guy" and they seem to attack anyone not bought in with that. Then there's the extreme of "Fire Pruitt"
I mean, everyone is going to have their own opinion. I want the current HC & staff to be here for a long time because they rebuild and start winning, but I'm also aware that if we're not making obvious improvement in the Wins column they might not get a chance to finish the job.
The realist in me believes that CJP is going to be here until 2021 unless something outright crazy happens (him quitting, or major NCAA/personal/administrative related issues). It's not a smart financial move to fire & pay the buyouts, not after doing it with Dooley & Butch, not after having so many issues with the coaching search to hire Pruitt, and not after investing so much into Barnes, and not after paying Chaney and getting the new guys on CJP's staff.
So from a "bottom line" standpoint it makes zero sense that Fulmer fires Pruitt after 2 seasons, or even 3 seasons. I think he'll be here in year 4, because I think next season we'll be bowling. We may lose more than we win this season, looks likely. But I expect this year is the season where few games are complete blowouts.
Beat the Gators and we're 2-2 with chances to beat Miss State, South Carolina, UAB, Kentucky, & Vandy (that'd be 7-5). So I'm all in supporting this staff & team right now, cause they are the ones on the field doing the work. Young and Talented, hoping to shock the world!!!
LET'S GO IT'S FLORIDA HATE WEEK!!!
Many reasons why, but to put the majority of that on Bass I think is unfair. There are gobs of posters on here who contribute to the nonsense. But, then again, it is a FREE message board on the internet that has a FREE ignore feature.
I’ve been saying this ever since the (offensive) suggestion that we use UK as a roadmap back was broached. We have significantly better infrastructure in place than UK football. We don’t need to do it the UK way. They just happened to identified the right coach to best manage their strengths and weaknesses. We have not yet either done that in the past or verified we have done it in the present.I'm a bit more optimistic than you, because I think we have to be. The stakes are high and we have to start turning this thing around. You take opportunities when you have them. Right now, we have a relatively healthy team, confidence coming off a shutout win, some SR leadership and FR who're giving full effort and believing. UF is beatable. Yes, every team is theoretically beatable, but UF sets up as well for us as we're going to get. Will the program collapse if we don't carpe diem? Probably not. But a loss would be costly.
My central point-- which is seemingly unpopular-- is that UT isn't UK, doesn't want to be UK and is coming at this from a completely different place with a different strategy. UT has invested unprecedented resources to win sooner rather than later. Right now, we have a window and full support. We need to capitalize.
Thing is though, I don't believe his post was directly pointed at you. Pretty sure he was responding to the Pruitt hate fest. But, it's whatever. One snotty condescending post deserves another...I was responding to one specific post from one specific poster.
Most have noted the change in the RF. We all enjoy the FREE ignore feature-- more and more every day.
I mean, that probably describes 95+% of the people on this board...and Tennessee fans in general. Doesn't mean we should have a position on the coaching staff.
I don't know if Nick Saban loves Tuscaloosa, but I'm sure their fans could give two sh!ts if he does or doesn't...just win, baby!
that all sounds good, but there's a reality of "the now" that just is what it is.
we probably aren't going to beat FL.
you can't give up. the next game is not as winnable as this one. then you get MSU. then Bama. could be 2-5 after the Bama game.
things will NOT look good. it won't be any fun in here. and i'd advise all TN fans to stay off social media idefinitely at at that point, and don't watch anything to do wtih college football on ESPN....
but......you get 5 games left. all winnable....what if you win them? and you FINISH 7-5? what if you go 4-1?
i absolutely hate putting the cart before the horse here, and really hate harkening back to a season that's so far removed, it really can't matter...................but that 88 team started 0-6. they were AWFUL. and went on to win 5 straight to finish the season and won the SEC the next season.
don't see that kind of turn around next year obviously....but we literally have to take this one game at a time at this point.
there's still a lot out in front for us with only having 3 games played so far.
if there was ever a time to not get caught looking ahead, especially when things seem as dire as they do today, it's right now.
there is simply no choice to but block the noise, and only worry about the next game.
Yes we can..sorry. I got sucked into it again..Dude you have to admit that losing to Florida on the last play of the game irrevocably broke the team. If that doesn't happen I would say that CBJ is still our coach, for better or for worse. Now can we please move on from the 16th million conversation about past coaches' tenures here?
i think you and i are probably closer to being on the same page than either of us think.I'm a bit more optimistic than you, because I think we have to be. The stakes are high and we have to start turning this thing around. You take opportunities when you have them. Right now, we have a relatively healthy team, confidence coming off a shutout win, some SR leadership and FR who're giving full effort and believing. UF is beatable. In case you haven't noticed, we're getting top players. Ramel Keyton is on this roster, Eric Gray is on this roster. Tee Hodge is in the 2020 class as well as a few receivers. We are still players for Rakim Jarrett as well. Lets not forget that BJ Ojulari, Harrison Bailey, and others are in this class also. It isn't like he's recruiting like KY.
The point is, we can't recruit with Bama and GA yet. But we will if we develop the guys we have and start winning. That's what was wrong with the intern. His first 2 classes were strong, but recruits began to see through him because he couldn't win and he couldn't develop guys and as soon as Dobbs, Hurd, Malone, Barnett, Kamara and others left, we went 4-8 because there was no building happening. There was no development taking place, and the recruits new it and wouldn't come here.
I don't believe that will happen under Pruitt. I believe this is a staff that builds a program by developing players and having them ready to play. That is why Clemson is where they are. They recruited in the top 15, not top 5, but they built that program by developing their players and recruiting quality players at key positions. Now they are able to recruit top 5.
They put JG in a great position to succeed against BYU...but...JGI don’t even have a number anymore.
For me, and I already know it’s lame, it is about progress.
I want to see the team grow. The depth build. The talent play and get experience at every position.
I want to see smart coaching decisions.
I want to see creative play calling to get your players in a position to succeed.
The wins will come if we do that, but I know they are not coming this year so pointless to actually put a number on it.
