Need a new 4K TV, any recommendations from the pros? Samsung, TCL, Hisense, Sony, Vizio?

I just did a little research on this. If money isn’t an issue, then probably Samsung. CNET has TCL rated as the best value, but it’s a specific series because some TCL’s get bad reviews. I have a Vizio that has lasted 12 years and been fantastic. There are some great values out there. I think I would consider Vizio’s top of the line series.

Is that a goalrilla? That's very similar to mine but I fabricated it myself. It's about 25 years old now and solid as a rock. The backboard is not in the best of shape as it has some chips and the painted box and stuff are faded. Rim is a little rusty and the actual steel could use a paint job. Hardly used any more so I may sell it.

Spalding, but honestly I am pretty sure that one company makes them and then multiple companies put their logo on it to sell...🤔

The economy is not screwed. Prior to the breakout the only issue we were seeing globally was that central banks were steeling in to assist the overnight repo market.
I work for FEE and I can assure you that the keynesian economics theory Allows for fiat currency printing at infinity. As long as the “people” accept fiat then inflation is fine and a good thing at the pace we have seen it historically. (Check out the FEE podcast for more great info on the world economy if you are into this kind of stuff, it’s really good.)

Now extending this shut down much longer and we are talking war.

Russia gets 90% of their income (not taxing citizens) from oil along with about 30 other countries. No demand for oil.... big issues. Famine, mass poverty and then war. This is why we stepped in to address OPEC and Russia and USA agreed to cut production along with Saudi’s.
I have no idea what you're talking about but I believe you.

Take a good look at the smart TV operating systems, if you're planning on using it over a roku/firestick type device... They all don't offer all apps you might want to use, or do use on your roku... Which can be frustrating if you're not aware of it before hand..
As TV's go, 4k/uhd they're all really good quality as far as pictures go.

I have a 65" lg.... And I like it. Surprisingly good sound... And functionally I like it a lot...

I do like Samsung a lot too. Would have got one of it'd of been in sale instead of the LG.

There are a couple things that I think are kinda dumb about mine tho.

My sound bar is blue tooth and the TV has auto connect.. But only for certain brands/models... And mine isn't one of them so I have to connect it when I want to use it. Not a huge deal but it makes no sense. My phone will auto connect to anything it's been connected to in the past and the TV can't? It's dumb for a smart TV In that way.

Also I have it connected to my echo, but the setup was a bit funky. It has an Alexa app in the smart os, but you have to download the LG app and register it they that app, not the Alexa... Again kinda dumb. But it does work... Can turn it on/off, adjust volume, change channels if on the web TV, and launch the pre loaded apps... Amazon, Netflix etc... Doesn't open anything I've added manually...

Still.. Great picture quality and sound... Most all other things about it functionally I like allot.. Those are the only two things I've found that were kinda meh.

And I couldn't beat it for the price either...

Again, this argument has been had over and over and I have no willingness to annoy people who don’t want to read it, but, the economy is screwed regardless. So prioritizing it over lives is comical to me.

If you’re right, you won’t have a job in recruiting. No one can afford it or will care. Economy is pretty screwed up. I agree. But, continue to make it worse and you will see America become a nightmare place where death and violence is more rampant than this virus could ever be at its worse.

We bought 2 tvs at the same time. A Samsung and an LG. 5 years later, LG is going strong and the Samsung had a catastrophic failure that can’t be fixed.
So once the pandemic scare is over (translation wife lets me buy stuff again), I will be buying a LG to replace the Samsung. Costco has great TV prices...

I've got a 60" Mitsubishi dlp, 3d that is probably 14 years old? Bought it as an open box special... Still going strong, have it in the bonus room.

I agree that the dow isn't a great indicator of where the economy is but it is an indicator of where investors see the economy going. It all depends on what happens with this virus. If we see another outbreak and another shutdown it definitely will trend down. If things continue to open up, those unemployment numbers will fall drastically. Most of the layoffs are temporary and many were forced by the government. I've got all my guys back and are planning on hiring 2-3 more.

It's not like institutional investors buy and sell based on multiples of future earnings as well as international economic and industry data. They just go outside (if they are allowed) and see which way the wind is blowing. It's science.

It’s a side gig, mainly to scratch an itch. I have a stable 9-5.

Again, what I’ll say is, we’re in trouble regardless. The America we currently live in operates on such small margins for the 99% of us who work every day. Even if we open everything back up - but 10% of the workforce doesn’t come back - or 5% of restaurant goers decide to stay home - or 2% of the people who get this thing die - we’re going to go through a recession of sorts.

Go OLED - you will not regret it.

It's all about confidence of the consumer. Make it so everyone can be tested/screened so there's more reliable data on who has it, therefore dictating measures to be taken so fewer and fewer infected people are out and about.... Or... Find a reliable treatment.. Confidence returns and things get better.

Simply turning it back on without either of those well help, but it'll be much slower return.

And if another big wave does hit, a 2nd shut down will have a more adverse affect than this one did.

So we'll see how it goes...
