With FL aggressive DL, we need to mix in a bunch of quick screens and slants. Obviously should start with JG and see how he does, but if the offense stalls or if we get far behind may as well put in Shrout who can get the ball out

Seen similar stats, but it's hard to disaggregate throwing time from scheme or having time to throw. One could look at how holding the ball longer affects performance - well JG's passer rating is the same below or over 2.5 seconds. Hilinski's rating is 93 under 2.5 seconds and 89 above, not a meaningful difference either.
Is that PFF data? I’m new to football advanced analytics...

To follow up on above post, JG had the fastest "time till throw" statistic in the league last year. That wasn't a good thing...he also had the shortest "time till sack" as well...

Now last year his passer rating plummeted 22 points when held longer than 2.5 seconds, so it did have a real, negative effect on his performance. It was not due to scheme or having a clean pocket.

Yeah. I'm actually pleased with the OL production overall this year, they aren't great but they're certainly improved in pass and run blocking. Granted, they haven't played an SEC caliber dl yet

Trying to recollect a game he went off in👀👀👀👀 toss up!!..In 3 years.Auburn or Kentucky🤔🤷🏽‍♂️👀 let the volnation board fight it out for debate as I laugh my ass off because I can count on one hand how many games he went off in.👀😭😂😂😂 my pick though..Auburn.Last year🤘🏽🍊🍊
Yes!😂That's why they would never live it down. Gators Guarantano'd. Sounds like a dish at Galatoire's. Every time someone saw a Gator fan for at least a decade they would say, "remember that time..."

I'm beseeching the football gods to make this happen. So if I get hit by lightening, you know what the gods thought of the idea.

Moving the goal post huh? You still can't perform surgery. It's not my job to recruit. Use logic next time.
I understand your failed joke, it was just ignorant. You just never responded to why you insist on being such a negative loser. If Tennessee football makes you that miserable then move on. Maybe start following Disney or something. People get tired of your "poor poor me" act.

Last thing I think a few QB draws would be beneficial to us, maybe one a quarter. The FL interior DL isn't great and we could get a few first downs with good blocking.

Yikes, you're the one who sounds pretty upset about it. Try taking a break from VN a while.

It actually looks like this "SEC Stat Cat" twitter has their own page and likely charts their own stats. Really interesting stuff and all free. Charts our play scripts, share of play calls, etc.

For instance: Outside zone has been 28% of our playcalls this year, with 5.9 YPP. All Verticals has been 11% of our plays gaining 7.9 YPP, but with 31% success rate vs 50% for outside zone. Inside zone has a 57% success rate, but only 4.2 YPP. Inside zone only accounts for 7% of plays.

Interesting thanks! Imma follow him

I think we would be better off with an offensive plan similar to Auburn last year for the UF game.

Quick passes and 50/50 passes to our WRs outside in one on one coverage and let them go up for the ball. JJ and Calloway can come down with these balls. Worse case scenario is they fall incomplete or get picked off 30-40 yards downfield which would be like a punt.

Better than JG getting sacked and fumbling the ball or throwing into triple coverage which may end up in pick 6's.

I like the deep 50/50 balls and suggested that as well, but they are definitely risky plays and can be pick sixes if the receiver is by himself and can't tackle the DB or safety.

Every pass JG makes at this point is risky bc he guns the ball, stares down the receiver, or makes the wrong read. Low reward high risk there on the short to intermediate passes.

At least the deep 50/50 balls have a high reward/moderate risk. Just make sure these balls are either on target or overthrown to let the WRs make a play.
