When this updates, I bet us and Florida swap places and gain on OU.

You may be right. I've thought about that but Florida did get some highly ranked transfers so I'm thinking it's still going to be close. One thing that Pruitt talked about his first year with us was the need to develop all the players on our roster because in his last championship run at Alabama at one point in the season he was down 5 linebackers. Everyone was pretty positive about the Bob Shoop hire for us in 2016 and of course he went to Mississippi State in 2018 and had the number 1 defense in the country but in 2016 we lost a handful of our best players on that side of the ball and his defense fell off a cliff. The way Georgia and Alabama recruit "depth" they can afford to be down 5 linebackers and hang in there because they have other very talented guys in the depth chart, maybe not as good as their starters but the drop off isn't generally as significant as it is with us or our peers. I think this is one of the things Pruitt is trying to fix with our program and it includes both recruiting at a sustained higher level and development of everybody. jmo.

Did he really just say that? WTF? Why piss on a kid's day like that? We're not talking about a coach who is a second or third choice and typically a grown adult (which seems to be what he's trying to riff off of).

You are totally correct. I just don't get telling this kid he's an also-ran. Besides you have no idea how a 17 year old rising senior is going to turn out by his senior year in college. It would have been much better to simply say the Vols pulled a player out of Texas that is a dual style QB, that he was also heavily recruited by Baylor and Auburn and that he fills what is probably the only QB slot we're going to sign this year.

Also compare it to the write-up on Rivals, who considers him to be a 3 star, very nice job there.

Just a quick comment about Tennessee Football.

Went up to my dad's today to give my step-mom a card and flowers (my mom died in 2016, but I am thankful for a wonderful woman who loves my dad and our whole family....there's nothing "step" about her, and hasn't been for years and years.)

Anyway, on a day that is kinda hard for me still, we were up there and we were talking about typical topics of the day. Like his health, cause he's not young and had an angiogram last week~but he's fine. And my kids (the oldest of which might as well have been pushed straight out of my step-mom.....she has LOVED that kid from the minute he was born! He's hers, lol.)

Then, we started talking Tennessee football, and what has happened in the last couple weeks in recruiting.

Y'all, Tennessee Football is so much more than a sport. I guess every fan base feels this way.......but it really is one of the heartbeats of our family. We love it like our own, we celebrate it like it's ours, and we feel ALL the emotions when it isn't doing well.

It made my day getting to talk to my daddy and step-mom about the good things happening at UT.

Just a side note:

I find it both interesting and hilarious that all or most of the vitriol being spewed our way due to our recent recruiting streak has come mostly from one fan base.

Another side note:

**** UGA.

My wife and daughter are out on the lake on their paddle boards. I bring out two of our dogs. I put their life vests on (2nd leading cause of accidental death in dogs is drowning). My daughter comes to get the chihuahua, who promptly sits on her board like he owns it. She paddles off. Our 14 year old Border Collie isn’t about to be outdone, she promptly starts swimming out towards my wife. My wife is a good 50’ from shore. The dog makes it to her paddle board and tries to climg on. Amazingly, my wife reaches down and pulls her on the board without flipping or falling off. Great Mother’s Day experience.

Grilled Bronzino and asparagus last night. My son made a great sauce for the fish (capers, lemon zest, garlic based) and wilted spinach. Finished with a phenomenal Rum cake (bought the cake).
Breakfast was pancakes and bacon.
Lunch Chicken Tortilla soup from scratch.
My son and I did all the cooking and cleaning.
Whew, I am glad she’s worth it. 😁

I forgot, my daughter had the toughest job, she had to keep my wife away from the kitchen so that we could cook for her. My wife is very strong willed, but also a great cook. Kudos to my daughter...
