I think UGA for Mims coming in.
My gut is actually with the Vols for Nyland but maybe that's wrong.
For Mondon I think that UGA's win over Auburn was big (Tigers had momentum in that recruitment). Early playing time is massive for Mondon though in my opinion so I don't know how it will completely settle in the end but my prediction is with UGA right now.

my gut reaction is it hurts UGA more than it helps/hurts us...for one reason...it negates the speed advantage they have.....

makes it a physical slug fest type of game and i just think we can go toe to toe in a game like that with them.

if it's a track meet...eventually, i think they can out athelte us....maybe making 1 or 2 plays that are the difference int he game.

in a mudder....who know what the hell happens. disaster and opportunity with every snap....kick...punt/kick return.....
This is my thinking too. I think we have an advantage in the department that would most likely decide the game if it becomes a mud fest - QB decision making.

JG has shown through the years to be pretty good at taking care of the ball. This year he has been excellent in that department. I think we can stalemate UGA, or even win, in a running game slugfest, but if that is the type of game we see, at some point one of the QBs will either 1. make the big game winning play or 2. (and I think this more likely) make the game losing play with a sack fumble or int. Believe it or not I think JG gives us the edge there over Bennett.

I think it helps because it can take the crowd out of the game a little.

I like our ground game a little better. I also think rain takes away the short passes that need a tight spiral in a small window. All Bennett has shown so far is the short pass. I wouldn't mind rain at all this Saturday.
Agreed!

I think they are but there's more. I happened to just have been working on an in depth comparison of our two teams (Tennessee & Georgia) which I'll post here:

I’m assuming fall camp is now over. If you recall Pruitt said we would carry fall camp into the first two weeks of the season due to having so many guys miss the regularly scheduled fall camp due to quarantines. I make note of this because our starters on the defensive line were I think an unexpected group. I think most observers were looking for Solomon, Emerson, and Middleton to be the likely starters, primarily because, well, they were the primary returning starters. Instead we have had Simmons, Bumphus, and Butler. There could be something more than the quarantines at play here but I suspect not. All three of last year’s primary starters on the DL saw some action against Missouri. I think they may see a lot more action this week. Even Garland has been bumped from the starting lineup, a role he had for a number of games last season. The guys we’ve been starting have actually done a pretty good job though Simmons may have been injured a bit in the Missouri game. We play a lot of guys on the DL so I think it will be interesting to see which of the guys have the more snaps this week. jmo.

We pretty much know what we have at linebacker. Henry is the QB and he starts at what is listed as the Will but I think it’s the common Mike position. Crouch has been starting at what we list as the MLB. I think Pruitt calls it the Money. I think it’s actually the common Will. Bennett has been the starter at SAM which for us I think that’s the Edge guy. It's sort of funny that Deandre doesn't even start yet is winning accolades. jmo.

In the back end we started Slaughter at Star against SC but swapped him with Bryce at some point, Bryce having started at SS against SC. At Star against MO we started Theo. Alontae started both games at CB and George was listed as the starter at the other corner against SC. Bryce was listed opposite Taylor as the other starting corner against MO but he only played I think on 3rd downs or in spots. The other safety starter against SC was Trevon and he also started against MO. He was joined by Jaylen for the MO game.

On paper there’s not a lot of talent difference between our starting DL and Georgia’s starting DL. The same is true at linebacker. Across the board there’s just not a lot of difference, on paper. I don’t even think there’s a lot of difference in class between the front seven starters. Georgia’s edge would likely be in depth for the front seven. I think we have the advantage talent-wise at Mike but they have a senior. They have Dean, a SO, where we have Crouch or Banks. On the edge they have Ojulari. Their front seven is pretty stout but I think it’s biggest strength is probably the depth behind the starters. jmo.

The real strength of Georgia’s defense is its secondary. Where we have 5-stars galore on our offensive line, Georgia has 5-stars galore manning the back end of their defense and none of the starters are freshmen. Of course Georgia also has tremendously talented depth behind those starters. It’s my understanding that if you have the guys in the backend who can play man defense that gives you more leeway to both stop the run and pressure the quarterback. That is why some say the secondary is the most important position group on the defensive side of the ball. jmo.

So while Georgia has more talent on the roster (paper-wise) than we do right now, only 11 guys can get on the field at any given time. Their advantage, aside from their secondary, appears to all be in their depth. They don’t have a lot of drop off when rotating guys and they can rotate guys at every position though from a production standpoint, their starters dominate. jmo.

Both our defense and theirs have recorded 5 sacks through 2 games and our opponents I’d argue were of similar capability. We’ve recorded 14 total TFLs; Georgia has had 10. We are +1.50 in turnover margin; Georgia is +1.00. We’ve had 9 total penalties in all phases of the game for 70 yards; Georgia has been penalized 20 times in their first two games for 167 yards. In fact they are the most penalized team in the conference at this point.

Again, given that we’ve faced similar opponents, I think the comparisons of our performances are informative. Against Arkansas Georgia gave up 2.75 yards per rush attempt. Against Auburn they gave up 1.77 yards per attempt. We gave up 2.54 yards per attempt to South Carolina and 3.41 per attempt to Missouri. The passer rating for Franks against Georgia was 97.51; for Nix it was 84.67. Collin Hill was at 129.89 against us and Bazelak was at 139.59. We’ve had 7 QBH; Georgia has had 3. We’ve had 4 PBUs and Georgia has had 8.

Through our first two games we’ve rushed for 4.35 yards per attempt; Georgia has rushed for 3.71 yards per attempt. We’ve had 6 rushing touchdowns; Georgia has had 3. Guarantano’s passer rating is 143.18 while Bennett’s is 148.74. Guarantano has passed for 2 TDs; Stetson 3. Passing yardage per game for both of these quarterbacks is almost exactly the same. Both teams have given up 4 sacks. We’ve given up 7 TFLs while Georgia has given up 6.

Our offense has scored a total of 8 TDs plus 1 pick-six from our defense. Georgia’s offense has scored a total of 6 TDs plus 1 pick-six from their defense. With field goals we’re 1 for 3; Georgia is 4 for 5. We’re 9 for 9 on PATs; Georgia is 6 for 6. We’re averaging 33.0 points per game; Georgia is averaging 32.0 points per game. We’ve put 6 of 8 punts inside the 20 yard line; Georgia has put 6 of 9 punts inside the 20. 8 of our 12 kickoffs have been touchbacks and 7 of Georgia’s 12 kickoffs have been touchbacks.

We have the better head coach, the better offensive coordinator, the better defensive coordinator, and the better fanbase. #WGWTFA
ojulari is a beast, well he was against auburn
We keep a clean pocket and things will be interesting
Gotta shore up that pass defense

I’m reviewing the Georgia Auburn tape right now and through the first quarter Georgia is jamming the receivers coming off the line on every play. Auburn doesn’t have an offensive line that can slow the Georgia pass rush. My initial thought is swing passes or short throws and probably jet sweeps are not going to be uncontested. Georgia keeps the line of scrimmage crowded sideline to sideline. We’re going to have to stretch the field. To me that suggest Velus Jones and/or Jalin Hyatt need to be on the field for every snap. We need their speed. Of course they’ve got to be able to beat the jams. I think our offensive line at its best can buy Guarantano enough time to allow our faster receivers to get down field. If we can’t stretch the field we may have to rely heavily on the run game and this is where getting Small a few reps in the Missouri game may pay off. I wished Tee Hodge or Len’Neth Whitehead were ready. I think we need a true power back against Georgia’s front seven. jmo.

ESPN’s FPI in the preseason I think forecasted us to win 4 games this year once we went to an all-conference schedule. They have adjusted that now to 6 wins and after this next win (against Georgia) I think it goes up again. I think as it stands now we can take Auburn and FPI still thinks we have a better shot at Florida than we do with Gus. I think that’s because Auburn is on the road and Florida is at home. No matter, we win both. After this week, we’re probably Atlanta bound and not even Alabama can stand in our way. jmo.

After we beat Georgia this week I think FPI, since it’s only data driven, will likely project us also to beat Auburn and Florida. That is definitely going to change the ESPN talking heads conversation about who is who this year in the Southeastern Conference. jmo.

You’re a true treasure of this site. Although your posts are sometimes so long I’m late coming back from my lunch breaks it’s always worth it.

I love your posts, but I have to disagree on the true power back part. Chandler is plenty physical enough to take on UGA's front seven and he has the speed to get loose if he finds a crease.

10 year anniversary. Never forget.

These is some of the reasons we gone whip Georgias ass this year

1. They sorry ass hell.

2. Mark Rich is a damn idiot and he has compiled a staff of damn fools. Ole Dooley wouldnt consider a single one of em for even a water boy position. Them damn jokers couldnt even cut the grass at Tennessee.

3.They team is soft and many of them is prolly sissies.

4.They quarterback is a freshman and he is short as hell.

5.They running back Caleb King aint gone stay healthy.

6. They defense is new and that Grantham fella aint never been no count as a coordinator no where.

7. They secondary is sorry as hell and they couldnt intercept a pass if you tossed it right to them underhanded. Them damn dogs will be last in the country in turnovers again.

8. Our team is more talented as ussual.

9. Them boys is afraid of the mighty T and all it stands for.

10. They mascot and they cheerleaders is ugly.

11. They fans is stupid and Athens is a ****hole.

12. Tennessee is a better state.

13. Coach Dooley is a damn smart genius and is gone out trick coach Mark Rich with his mind.

14. Our boys is better players and is tougher.

15. We took all they best recruits last year, Rodgers, Neal, James and them sissies feelings is hurt about it.

16. Chuck Smith is clearly gone be the best assistant on the field that day.

17. Our dog is more better and Rocky Top bad ass and will be played all damn day long.

18. Most importantly we always WHIP THEY ASS!!!

My prediction is 39-5 VOLS.

If I left anything out yall please add it and as always how bout them VOLS!!!

10 years... man

don't know about any advantages it would give us. i'm not sure we have an advantage, match up wise. (i.e. i think our O line is better than theirs, but we get to go against their front 7...that's not an advantage either way...good/good match up; push at best)

i just think it evens the playing field some. and in a level playing field game, anything can happen.

i'm not sure what to think about this Stetson kid. he's feeling it right now......and he's really not played poorly at all.

i'm not yet ready to say JG gives us an advantage. i thought he played very well against MO. to win this game, he has to be basically great.....windows will be tighter in this game....so when we do win outside.....and winning outside may mean we have a step or two on the guy, not 3 yards+ seperation....you can't miss.

wondering how TE's figure in to this week's plan offensively.

wondering how big a difference Sham makes....

wondering if A. Taylor plays with enough controlled aggression...he's gonna have his hands full. i'd assume he'll get large doeses of Pickens?

Crouch will be challenged this week i think. Johnson and Bennett need to be active in affecting the QB....

i'm excited. i don't think we will win, but i'm excited to see where this team is compared to a team like UGA.....and who knows, if it's close late....crazy stuff happens in the TN/UGA game.....

He would look a lot better if JG would hit him instead of throwing it over his head when he's running wide open on a wheel or flipping him to back shoulder when he just burned the CB and Safety down the seam (and that's not JG hate, that's a fact, and honestly JG has been decently serviceable so far), with that being said he also has had a drop or two, but if you hit him with a good throw on those 2 plays I just talked about, you might feel a little different on Keyton's performance thus far

Or it could be Keyton is not running proper routes. Pruitt made a comment in one of his interviews early in the week where he alluded to some issues with the depth of routes, which I took as not running them deep enough.

And it was Keyton turning the wrong way, not JG throwing to the wrong shoulder, on the seam route against SC. Keyton had a DB out in front of him and did a nice angle cut to his left, which pulled the DB that way, then Keyton quickly angled back to his right, which gave him a step on the DB and kept the DB behind his left shoulder. So JG correctly threw to Keyton's right shoulder because 1, as a receiver, you turn to the side you just angled to (in this case your right side), and 2, with a DB to Keyton's left, JG should never throw to Keyton's left shoulder. If Keyton had not turned to his left shoulder and then had to adjust bck to his right, the throw would have hit him in stride, likely for a TD.

how would that even be possible?
You can't be serious lmao
UGA's stadium was full on Saturday against Auburn. This is a big game it would not surprise me to see at least 50. Its possible because the SEC sent a guideline but ultimately left it up to each school to do as they please, so unless they change the rule this week UGA can have as many fans as they want.

I'm not completely against it but the freakin president has covid so maybe it shouldn't be 90% full. 50%...meh
