My random thoughts before I try and burry this game from my memory:

  • The OL was beyond atrocious. Worst performance by any one unit I’ve seen in years - and that’s saying a lot considering how bad we’ve been. I’m ready to move on from Brandon Kennedy.
  • I don’t put this game on JG, directly, on account of the above. That said, I’m over the JG era and want it to be over. It won’t be though.
  • That goal line stand was amazing.
  • Josh Palmer is damned good.
  • I don’t think Jim Chaney is an especially good OC. That isn’t a knee jerk off of this game. Rather a continued thought going back several games last year.
  • Morven Joseph deserves more playing time.
  • Idc about ranking - Banks and Crouch aren’t especially good linebackers. They were ranked as other positions anyways. Both are still learning. Neither should be starting yet but we don’t have a choice.
  • Hate to say it but the 1980 running joke ends this year. Uga is going to win a national title. I’d rather Covid reflash and cancel the entire season than to see uga and Kirby get a ring.
  • Were not getting Green or Mondon or Mims after that game. Maybe TID only because he’s kind of weird imo.
  • I know this is Pruitts third year but I don’t count that 2018 class much. I think we’re still two classes before we can expect to not get blown out by the uga and ua of the league. That 2018 class is pretty mediocre top to bottom.
  • Why did we not using a banger back today? Oh, that’s right - we don’t have one.
  • Three games and only one turnover. Defense has to be better. Flowers drop was bad. The forced fumble that landed right into the OL belly was ridiculous.
  • I love me some Pruitt but im shocked we’re still getting utterly destroyed three years in.
  • Hope we can beat Kentucky. Think we should be able to. We’ll get embarrassed by Alabama, but hopefully do well against the remaining teams and have a respectable season.

Agree. We are missing a banger RB and freak athletes on the DL & LB (outside of 11, though). I do love Cheney, but man, he’ll drop the run in an instant. Always has and always will.

Today is where 68 4/5 star players played 35 4/5 star players. The next highest behind UGA is UF with 37. Minus Bama we should compete with anyone left on the schedule including UF. A good qb today and we overcome the talent disparity. The defense keyed on the run and didn’t have to respect the pass. We hit a couple long ones and they didn’t care cause they knew JG could not do that all game. No other team minus Bama on our schedule will have the defense to do that. Still need better qb play
UGA is far and away the best defense we'll face this year.
Very disappointing that the O-Line could not match up to UGA's Defense. They did not play to the level they've been billed up. Give credit to UGA's Defense, they're elite, best in the country in fact.
That worries me. Pruitt is trying to build us up the old fashioned way. But can we actually get there with the recruiting landscape as it is? Feels like we will always be a step behind UGA and Bama and UF in overall talent. And if we play their game they will almost always beat us.

Interesting perspective..

With both Mims and Zachary scheduled to commit this week, are we doomed for more disappointment? I have to wonder how that second half collapse effects recruiting?

So you’re just going to completely ignore the 21 points he gave them👀 oof....bad take 21 is greater than 14 homie.😁

I’d put the interception on JG, but the fumbles are not his fault solely. Offensive line did a terrible job protecting JG yesterday and they got no run game going. Once Georgia realized we couldn’t run they started to blitz like crazy on passing situations and they ate our lunch. When given a time, JG can play good ball for
Us,
We just have a to protect him better and run the damn ball with some sort of consistency

Oline was very disappointing, but this is JG 5th year and its all the same issues. Can't read a D, has no internal clock. JG will not beat a top 10 team by himself.
Look at other QB's around the league and what they're doing. Ole miss qb was benched all last year for a baseball player and now he's shredding Bamas D.
I'm envious of good QB play. We've not had that since Dobbs and we complained about him.

They look at this team in two ways.
1. This team is getting close and maybe I'm the answer.
2. This team is not close enough and I want to win now and I'm fine with sitting for 2 years.

Getting tired of the JG apologists. He seems like a good kid and I admire his grit, but I'm tired of people making excuses for his obvious shortcomings. Is it all on him? No. Is most of it on him? Yes. Sure, we lacked discipline. Sure, our defense wore out as the game progressed (which happens when they can't get off the field for a rest because the ball keeps being turned over). Yes, our front 5 OL got whipped by their front 7 D, and our RBs seem unable to break tackles. But UGA schemed to put all the pressure on JG and he broke. Just like he broke at Bama. That's the key to beating us. Pressure JG and he reverts to form. No amount of coaching is going to change it. He's proven it time and again and we saw it yesterday. I doubt we see a change at the position, but I'll be damned if I understand the why of it.

Yesterday, I was so upset after the game. To be up at halftime, and then get absolutely rolled in the second half was frustrating to say the least. Between our inept quarterback play, our no show hyped up O-line, and some very suspect playcalling on offense, we couldn't get out of our own way.

But after sleeping on it, I'm not even mad. We still have plenty of season left. We all got tangled up in the same old cliché hype videos, the "8 game winning streak" against inferior talent and teams, and general rollercoaster that comes with UT fandom.

The truth is somewhere in the middle I suppose. Yesterday before the game and thru one half of football just felt like an old 90s Tennessee/Florida matchup. Third game of the season, high stakes at play, and unfortunately, the rest of the game felt like many of those matchups as well. We were right there, and then we weren't.

But that's ok. We are making progress as hard as that is to swallow. We all knew it wasn't gonna happen overnight. We all want to expedite this and take the next step up into the elite status, but it's gonna take a much better roster to compete with those UGA and Bama teams. We can still have a good to great season. We can still realistically reel off 7 or 8 wins and that's something to build on certainly, being we are playing a 10 game conference schedule.

Two things that do bother me and I'll shut my long winded self up:

0-34 against top 10. It'll be used against us relentlessly. That has to change. Our last win against top 10 was UGA in 06? That's brutal.

We have to find better play at qb. We have a senior qb that's closing in on social security benefits, and in three years the staff hasn't found a better option. JG2 is the easy target and he is what he is, but I think it's time the OC, the QB coach, and of course the HC at least share some of that flak.

When JG had time to throw in the first half, he looked good. Y’all cannot deny that. But when you can’t run the football, the athletes from GA will eventually catch up
To you. And that’s exactly what happened, we weathered the storm in the first half despite not being able to run the Ball. But when we continued to have no running game in the in the 2nd half, We became 1 dimensional. And you won’t be successful against this Ga defense being 1 dimensional.

We couldn't run because they loaded the box with blue chips to force JG into throwing. Yes, our OL got outmatched, but if we're going to make excuses for JG, I'm going to point out it was 7 against 5 for our OL. Our RBs can't even break tackles half the time so they sure as hell can't block. JG needs to learn when to secure the ball. It's not like this is a new thing for him. <cough> Bama Game <cough>

My thoughts on JG remaining QB.

Someone send that to coach.

Stop showing these damn hype videos with wins against mediocre teams.....and

Be competitive for four damn quarters against our rivals, that’d be something

As bad as I hate to say it, JG should be done, time to move on

Oline was ****ing worthless, complete embarrassment and their position coach should be put on notice, that kinda **** effort shoulD no longer be tolerated at Tennessee
