I believe this. I bet we come out after the bye week looking like a different team. Just like we did last year.

I hope so, but I won’t hold my breath. Why does it take half the season and 2 beatdowns (one to terrible Kentucky in Neyland!) to get to this point? That’s one of Pruitt’s biggest red flags...he seems to have absolutely zero sense of urgency, and his team reflects that. I sure hope he can figure it out, because if he doesn’t and we go through another coaching change, then keep your titanium cup on, because we won’t be relevant for another 15 years.

If/When we fire Pruitt, our first call should be to Sonny Dykes.

I am losing faith in Pruitt. I didn't expect to beat Bama. Sometimes it is how you lose. Telling fans , players, recruits we have some bigger , faster players that your not going to play until it's their turn and touting that as a good offensive performance is offensive.
They played to limit a blowout. They played to limit JG's chances to have a meltdown. Guess what coach you still got blown out and came out the backside looking weak. Such a loser mentality. GO OUT ON YOUR SHIELD!

Bigger faster players break and make tackles coach. If someone isn't getting it done next man up.


P.S. New dline coach didn't appear to be much of an upgrade.

I really thought Trey Smith would fill the role... maybe he plays the wrong position to be the spark this team needs

No such thing as not playing the right position to be a leader. This team is full of experienced juniors and seniors, yet none of them are leaders. It’s sad. That’s either a product of the pansy betas that Butch recruited, or its a product of those who are supposed to be leading them (the coaching staff).

And it "sparked" us to 0 additional wins. He got benched or injured EVERY time. He did not play a full game that we won.

JG just balled tf out. It IS weird with how TERRIBLY he played vs UK...but no way he sits after that performance. Hopefully his mojo keeps up (oh and we keep throwing PA passes FFS...)...

I zoned out watching this game, probably fit the best. This morning I cut my hand pretty good so I took a few shots and stitched it up with my wife's help. Took a couple of pain meds we've had saved while watching the game along with a few more dunks. Fast forward to tonight and I'm starting to find it hard to keep the screen in my phone in focus. But at least it took the edge of another loss.

I told my wife tonight I'm going to go buy a cigar tomorrow and put it up for the day we beat Bama. Hopefully I'll be around lung enough to smoke it.

Better put that cigar in your will for your kids with the reason as to when they can smoke it, because we are nowhere close to beating Bama. Sucks to have to say that.

He went for an onside kick and kept starters in till 5 or so minutes. General play calling? What did you want more or less of?

Honestly my biggest gripe was kicking a FG in the first half.

That’s your biggest gripe?? Did you just start watching football a couple of years ago? Man! The stupidest call was running the ball 3 straight times AFTER you just recovered a fumble at the 50 yard line! A close 2nd was the onside kick AFTER that stupid series to show that you “haven’t given up”, although the entire game plan was a concession of defeat! And there were many other stupid calls that would go before the FG.

The thing is, coaches decide who plays, not fans. What if HB hasn’t earned the playing time yet?

Just a thought.

Based on our play, we should just forfeit because no one has earned playing time. Coaches haven’t earned the right to coach either.

It pains me to say this, but that quote from him sounds just like a quote from our prior coach about players having 5 star hearts and being champions of life. My word!! I thought we had an actual football coach, but I don’t think we do, when said coach admits there are other players who are bigger stronger and faster but haven’t put in the time for it to be their turn? Unbelievable! I think we know how this all ends, and if so, it sets us back another decade at least. Sickening!

OAN: I’m tired of hiring experiments. If we have to hire again, please hire a PROVEN HEAD COACH!! And if we can’t make that hire, then put a coach who is a Vol for Life I’m the position, becauee I know he will give his all, and will never institute a game plan against Bama like the one we saw yesterday.

Or a combination of both. Definitely think there are no leaders among the Jrs and Srs (sad) and the coaching staff shares some blame. Having lead a global organization, I have found that leadership is learned, earned and discerned. Placing people into roles don’t necessarily mean they are leaders. IMO.

We’ve got 2 options:

1. Keep Pruitt for the next 3-5 years no matter what and let him grow on the job until he gets this thing rolling. Painful process, but it is where we are.

2. Hire Hugh Freeze at the end of the year.

We can’t have another open coaching search at this point. Taking another risk on and up and comer would only set us back another 3-5. I doubt we could haul on a top 5 coach at this point in our history. It would have to be an elite guy that is 100% on board at years end.

The gap between bama and UT talent wise is closer then it was when he took over.... one of main things is their older talent is significantly better

Assistant coaches are a big part of the development of talent..... Felton, nieds, maybe not great hires

Exactly how I feel. Started taking chances late to make respectable but played scared when there was a ton of time.
