So, my feeling on Pruitt really hasn’t changed that much. Last year, I thought he was a dead man walking halfway through the year, and something changed. That’s still possible this year.

I said throughout last season - even when we were on our win streak - that I felt doubtful Pruitt would ever win a conference championship, and even winning a division title, with Mullen and Smart as yearly competition, would be unlikely. I was raked over the coals for that opinion - I was too negative!

Now, I still feel about the same. I think Pruitt is probably an 8-10 win coach at his peak. I don’t think that’s good enough to win a title in this conference - but it’s still pretty good and better than we’ve had the last 10 years. Now I feel like I’m on the positive end of the spectrum.

If Vols lose to Arkansas with a 1st year head coach then things will get really bad around here
If we lose to Arkansas with two weeks to prepare and playing a team that hadn’t won a single SEC game in over 20 games until this year, then we should absolutely be debating when we stop the bleeding.

His brand of football seems to be super bland on both sides of the ball. Not a lot of imagination out there. He seems to want to play early Saban type of ball and the game has moved past that type of football

Because i know what kind of money and resources we have especially now with fulmer. We are literally paying Chaney like a small head coach lol. We have double the support staffers now as opposed to when butch was here. The last search had Mullen has our coach of Currie would’ve locked the door. He was on the line and Currie couldn’t finish the deal.
Mullen always wanted the Florida job. Finances have been handicapped by COVID and would be even more so by all the buyouts. Phil wouldn't be able to get the cash if he admits HIS hire is a failure.

So in your opinions is there any chance a change is made this year. Imo no and we shouldn't yet.

This year i agree. If this season goes truly south like 3-7 south. I would just hope that Pruitt would resign to find a cushy DC job and we hand the keys to tee or ansley

Not sure about “bland,” but it seems very clear to me he’s a very good and smart football coach who cannot either get those fundamentals through to his players or can’t get his staff to teach well enough.

You disagree our AD was dysfunctional during the hiring process in which we fired an AD?

Ok

Once fulmer was in place a real search was done a very good candidate was hired. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn’t.

But to compare Pruitt to Dooley and butch is not fair imo

Neither Dooley or butch could get a coordinator job after being fired as a HC. It would take Pruitt about 15 minutes to land a DC job with a contending team.

Kippy would’ve been bad, Should’ve stuck with fulmer imo another year or two
pruitt has been the best hire imo, he just doesn’t/hasn’t gotten good assistants
And that's what happened to Fulmer. Pruitt has to hire the right assistance and retain them. We have to have more stability. I'm not happy with what things look like the past couple weeks but I think we need to give him 2 more years, then see where we're at. Recruiting seems to be getting better in 2 years if all these higher rated players aren't looking better then we're still in a mess that's been going on for far too long.

I just don’t think the replacement would be any better
Based on what? Name value? There’s so a lot of things we could be doing differently that would help our offense that’s all i care about. Hopefully if Maurer is the QB now, tee gets more power like he did last year and we run more RPOs and something besides outside zone

Wow Is all you can say.

that’s why baseball is the best game on earth. 2 broken bat singles and one of the craziest plays I’ve ever seen ends it
Three Dodgers made terrible plays. Taylor muffed it, Muncy's throw was not on line and Smith absolutely has to catch it. Has to.

It’s impossible to give names or even know money. I just prefer a power run based spread atttack. Like Florida, Ohio state, etc.
I kind of feel like that's what we are trying to do this year. We are just majorly limited at QB that we can't run half the plays in the system. And I'm not trying to knock JG I just don't think his skill set fits that type of offense

I think Pruitt would put restrictions on any OC
