The challenge this staff has immediately is having something they can continue to sell, and counter the negative recruiting surely to follow a performance like that.

And to do that, this staff is going to have to do something they've not done yet..."coach" themselves to a win... Likely 2... That they're not supposed to win. And a large part of that is gonna revolve around getting more "dynamic" offensively...I use the term loosely... But you get the idea.

On defense... Need guys to make plays, period. They've been there to make... We've dropped the ball (literally and figuratively) too many times.

The vision is 3 years old.

Time for a result that matters....
I think the KY loss is more painful to recruiting than losing to Bama. People can scream all they want, but we're not close to Bama yet. We should be better than KY.

I think Pruitt is leaning on their youth and relationships for recurring purposes while they lack the experience to develop their respective position groups. We have regressed since last year and those coaching shifts along with not hiring an experienced S&C are hurting us imo.
Sounds like excuses. If my commander in the Army had as many excuses he would be relieved of command immediately!

Yeah.. Performance, in my post, should be plural....

Point is still the same.

We are maxing out our 25% capacity in the middle of a pandemic… There is that.

He doesn’t when theOL isn’t protecting but yesterday JG was in rhythm with great protection and yet the play calling didn’t change.
Pathetic
I’ve been down on Chaney too
He’s called some bad games this year for sure
However, I do believe he’s scared to death of his starting QB

I'm just saying, unlike the fanbase, recruits can look at yesterday's game with the perspective that the Bama machine is just on another level right now. We weren't expected to win, so it's no surprise we lost. But when you look at the KY game where we got our ass handed to us, well, that's concerning.

I want a coach that will walk into practice and tell the team nobody's job is safe after the last two weeks coaches included.

Matthews said on his show this morning Hyatt should be getting more touches. He told a story about how Majors came into the coaches room after a game once and said if a player (forgot which one) didn't get 12 touches a game the rest of the year somebody is getting fired.

There is a little conjunction called “or” between those two statements, which means is it our coaching staff or the older players who were recruited by our former coaching staff, which includes the head coach named Butch. In other words, I’m trying to ask is it the current coaching staff not producing leaders, because they are not leading, or is it because the older players who are in the position to lead aren’t doing it because they don’t have that type of mentality, which is part of the recruiting process finding kids for your program that are born leaders. We usually call those type of people alphas. Clear now?

I think this staff is not recruiting enough good players and they also keep flip flopping players positions and position coaches so how are they supposed to really develop into anything?

If they dont trust JG to throw the ball, then sit him down. But, im assuming they don't trust any QB. Which is in coaching staff developing another QB.

The concerning thing is you’re seeing programs that really aren’t that great have decent years here and there- Colorado. Oklahoma State. Iowa State. Not every year. And not most years. But, they have years where it all comes together and they beat some folks and have a solid year.

Tennessee doesn’t do that. Ever. It doesn’t matter the coaches. It doesn’t matter the players. It doesn’t matter the administration. It’s the same garbage every year.

It’s absolutely inexplicable.

And don’t tell me the teams above play in terrible conferences. I get that. They also don’t have access to the types of players that Tennessee does. Yet, they are managing to put everything together occasionally.

There is something fundamentally wrong with the Tennessee program. I’m not sure any other conclusion holds at this point. We’ve seen enough.

Saw a post on the Cheney thread in the FF that alluded to Cheney possibly being done at the end of this season and Chip Long taking over.
You can change the puppet all you want, but when the master is still the same, the same results will happen. There is no way Jim Chaney would institute that conservative of a game plan yesterday, no matter who the quarterback is. There’s no way Jim Chaney runs the ball three straight times at midfield after a turnover.

It pains me to say this, but that quote from him sounds just like a quote from our prior coach about players having 5 star hearts and being champions of life. My word!! I thought we had an actual football coach, but I don’t think we do, when said coach admits there are other players who are bigger stronger and faster but haven’t put in the time for it to be their turn? Unbelievable! I think we know how this all ends, and if so, it sets us back another decade at least. Sickening!

OAN: I’m tired of hiring experiments. If we have to hire again, please hire a PROVEN HEAD COACH!! And if we can’t make that hire, then put a coach who is a Vol for Life I’m the position, becauee I know he will give his all, and will never institute a game plan against Bama like the one we saw yesterday.

This quote reminds me of what Phil used to do. Didn’t like it then either. Used to be with Pruitt all you would hear is earn it in practice and competition. Now is it if your older?

I’m new to the recruiting forum, so please excuse my ignorance, but I’ve seen a lot of allusions to uga’s unethical recruiting. Can someone give me a quick overview of that? This thread is almost 8,000 pages so I probably won’t find it in here otherwise. Thanks!

Absolutely Hyatt should get more touches. I dont think there is a team left on our schedule that has someone who can match his speed. If we get one or two guys out of the box we should be able to run the ball and win a game or two

Where do you get the idea that "so many people" want Pruitt's job? Our last coaching search would say otherwise.

Because i know what kind of money and resources we have especially now with fulmer. We are literally paying Chaney like a small head coach lol. We have double the support staffers now as opposed to when butch was here. The last search had Mullen has our coach of Currie would’ve locked the door. He was on the line and Currie couldn’t finish the deal.
