My list was the following in order of calls:

1. Hugh Freeze
2. Matt Rhule (1st year in NFL, may not like it depending on how their season goes. regardless, make the call and ask)
3. Chris Peterson (miss coaching yet?)
4. Greg Roman
5. Steve Sark
6. Left field gamble of Joe Brady or Kendal Briles

I'm more pissed off at the fact Currie should have got his crap together and locked Mullen up. No, he is not elite, but he would be a consistent 9-10 game winner here.
Freeze is obvious if we can stomach him.

Rhule would be a very good hire too imo.

Petersen has always been a TOP candidate, but I think we've thrown the bag at him before...no treads on that tire

Roman/Sark - very meh

Brady/Briles - idk about HC but would GLADLY pay either guy $2.5mm+ for 3+ years to come be our OC.

I probably should have put Roman in the "gamble" category. I know he wanted this job badly when we fired Dooley.

Basically have 5 guys that could run the position and do it well. CRB is hardest on PGs and praise is hard to come by...this g̶o̶o̶d̶ great news.

Rick Barnes on his PGs: 'I will say this, we’ve been pleased'
I had the same thought. It was well known that Rick Barnes was especially hard on Jordan Bone and they had a video about Bone giving advice to JJJ right before last season.

Great post on ToS - I think this could be a 3-4 year thing with all players getting an extra year and teams generally being older and more experienced to level the playing field...can we take advantage? Let's hope this moves us up in the pecking order. More reason to hold onto the current staff a few more years.

So with everyone getting this year without it taking any eligibility, I wonder how this might change the landscape of college football, if any. It seems to me that the elite will be disadvantaged in that their guys will not wait to go pro, and will still move on when they were. But the teams laden with players that aren't quite NFL material, will have players stay on another year, class by class, and so the relative age and experience will rise, while the elite teams will continue as before and so become relatively young in relation to the group. So we might actually get a couple of years where college football in general has a little more parity, which will be good for college football.

All the more reason to play the young guys and get them experience. Gives them an extra year of development while the elite lose numerous players to the NFL.

So a family member and I were discussing random things. Trying to keep our minds off the s**t show that we have been through the last few weeks. We discussed the typical "if you were AD, what would you do." Obviously, I highly doubt Jeremy is fired this year. With the extension, COVID, and the recent reductions in salary staff pay, it would be a terrible look. Although, we are both in agreement that it will probably happen eventually. We would get raked over the coals for hiring Kendal Briles after raising a stink about Schiano, but we'd win some ball games.

1-3 I'm with you
Insert Eric Bieniemy and Luke Fickell
then continue down your list

It seems to me that 5-star recruits would be even that much more likely to go to the Alabama's and Clemson's of the world if those teams' elite players continue to hop to the NFL early while players at other schools are sticking around for 5-6 years.

In a similar vein, schools with a bunch of 5-6 year players on the roster are eventually going to hit the wall on 85-man limit and have to decide between pushing some dudes away who have been local and waited their turn versus taking a small signing class or two.

Or give more PT to our seniors for their eventual return? 😆 JG already guaranteed his return with Kennedy and Chandler to lead the offense. Sham and Solon Page to lead the defense.

I thought this a few years back and I'm not sure, but were Arkansas or FSU raked? Didn't seem like it afaik. Seems pretty in the past and he said something about the college girls on campus...a million miles from possibly knowing about diddling little kids.

True. I wonder if we should have went after him instead of Chaney.
