Key is so freaking talented it’s ridiculous
Then he should be playing. Kenneth George is a good athlete but he isn't very talented and couldn't catch a cold.

I bet that we see a massive youth movement coming out of the bye. This gives them two weeks to prepare those guys so I think we're going to see the younger receivers especially, but also the younger guys on defense. We need Joseph, Key, Slaughter, McDonald, French, Eason, and others to be playing. I'd like to see more Big O, he has been good when he has been in. I wonder why we haven't seen any Bailey yet on the DL? Maybe we do after the bye. We need an infusion of talent.

There was a good point made on the podcast yesterday. People laughed at Pruitt when he said the gap is closing. But he isn't wrong. The scoreboard doesn't show it, but the gap is closing in this way: if the freshmen and sophomore Tennessee players played against the freshmen and sophomore bama players, the score would have been a lot closer, even if we didn't win. That is the difference. Bama is the 2nd most talented team in the country, but their talent is upper class talent. Our talent is all freshmen and sophomores right now. We're just starting this thing. I think when these guys get older, we're going to see a different Tennessee team. Problem is, Pruitt has to keep recruiting in the top 10 and he has to find a QB, or he may not be given enough time to see this thing through. No more disasters.

4th as a true freshman when he wanted to redshirt. 3rd as a sophomore after he outperformed Ferguson...and still desired to redshirt but was 1st man up after Worley couldn’t make a go of it anymore. I remember Clausen dazzled as a true freshman back when enrolling early was a rare thing and that he had won the starting job until he was shelved for “tired arm”. I think it was shoulder damage and that he never really recovered full strength...which makes his career more impressive.

Oh wow..very interesting...I was a kid then so I never heard any of this..that’s pretty cool...I’ve never heard of the term “tired arm” that’s definitely a new one is it something close to Tommy John or?

Was said during his recruitment that her could play any of those positions.. Star, safety or corner.. But that he was more natural at Star or safety...iirc.
Star is probably the path to his playing time. Green and McGhee are most likely the outside corners in 2 years. Maybe next year at least one depending on what BT and AT do.

Niceeee!!...I kept up with his recruitment I just couldn’t remember exactly what position.I just knew he was all over the place in the back field

One of your best posts in a long time, Bass. Bravo, my friend.

No VQ and the internet was in its medieval stage...known as GoVols.com. That’s where I read the reports. I’m confident qualified medical personnel properly diagnosed it but that term is what was released to the unwashed masses. Before his arm got fatigued, his quick release was being praised and the velocity was supposedly top notch. He was more advanced than the offense in place and Randy Sanders added packages to take advantage. That got scrapped when Joey Matthews trotted our for a couple of series and A.J. Suggs took over until Clausen was ready to return.

Naw. You play your best players. Period. Our coach had a job because we won. Why would he play less talented players because they happened to practice a little harder than the starters? He was paid to win.
If we're taking equal effort.. Sure. But you said you were a "bad"practice player...

So if you're bad at practice but started, then how bad was the rest of the team at practice...lol

Look it's not breaking news too say that coaches generally play people that display what they expect in games, in practice.

That's why you hear coaches talk about practices having to be very competitive.

Are there veterans/starters on teams that don't necessarily have to do that? Sure.

But those decisions are made situationally.. Not as a matter of process...

None of this is new. And none of it is a road map for what Pruitt should or shouldn't do.

Every time he's put a new QB in they've made big mistakes....
