Why in the world some of these prominent boosters don’t want to win is beyond me. We could have had Freeze as OC and was cleared by the President, yet a booster was able to nix it?? Unreal if true. Looks like we still aren’t all rowing in the same direction on the hill. We will continue to not be able to take the next step if this is all true.

I don’t buy it. I much more buy that the SEC blocked it

eh, i could see someone that carries some weight over there putting their foot down on a hire. you never know what kind of axes to grind exist.....

and maybe some of it was just not being willing to go thru the scrutiny of the SEC even taking a look at the propsect of hiring a guy like that.

all that said...the man is trying to build somehting from the ground up. give him what he wants...thinks he needs...and remove the excuses.

it sure as heck can't be any worse than some of the hires that have been made elsewhere in this conference....cause it's not like other programs haven't made sketchy hires lol.

basically if Briles can get a job in the SEC....and Kiffin and oregeron and Lance Thompson and Rodney Garnner and all the other guys that have come and gone with some kind of skeleton in their closet...then i think hiring hugh freeze is basically par for the course.

hell, we got three basketball coaches, high profile basketball coaches, that have HUGE skeletons in their closets and are looked on every year as some of the best we have to offer....strong azz or otherwise...............................................

anyway. the high road gets you nowhere. go hire lance thompson. hire hugh freeze. hire bo davis.

literally everbody else is doing it.............lol.

Our morals hand cuff the coach, causes him to lose the fanbase and get fired, and then the fans are told it will be atleast 3 more years. Our morals are costing us more than any punishment the NCAA would give us.

Got to stream a little bit of Ramon fosters appearance this morning. He said something like we need to use the bye week to simplify our gameplan and focus on the things that we do best or well.

What are those things right now to you guys? Specifically on offense and defense

Offense- Power running with PA passes. Throw deep 5-6 times per game.

Defense- Much harder here. I have no idea. Man coverage only? Get away from zone and zone blitzes?

Dan Harralson was just on Basilio. He said that people think, myself included, that the job is too big for Pruitt. Dan disagreed and said that he believes Pruitt is too big for the job. That he’s not getting the type of support he expects.

For example, Pruitt wanted Hugh Freeze and it was supported by Boyd but shot down by a prominent booster. Pruitt also wanted Lance Thompson and Probst but those were shot down too. In order for Pruitt to be successful he needs more support to hire the types of coaches he wants much like the support Saban has at Alabama.

Other notes, Harralson believes Chaney is much higher on Salters who will arrive in Jan and likely be fast tracked to a real opportunity to start. Arkansas is a bad matchup for us. Pruitt’s first recruiting class is really hurting us but it’s not Pruitt’s fault there just wasn’t enough time.

Interesting.

Make your calls for the rest of the season.

Ark - W
Texas A&M - W
Auburn - W
Vandy - W
Florida - L

I think we start playing like we did the first two games of the season and steal one at home against A&M. I think Pruitt's got Auburn's number, so that's a W. We out-talent Arky and Vandy, maybe not as definitively as we should, but we still come out on top. I actually think Florida is more of a toss-up at this point. No one knows how much covid is going to hurt their season, and we could get them off of a loss to UK. Maybe they pack it in at that point. Still, without further evidence, I think Florida's offense is too much for us. We can't stop them enough to be able to get a lead. Overall season record 6-4. Decent bowl birth. Maintain current recruits - bottom of the top 10 class nationally.

LFG

Tennessee should beat Arky if they come to play
Tennessee will struggle with TAM
Tennessee will struggle with Auburns offense
Tennessee will beat Vandy
I think Tennessee and Pruitt find a way to win against Fl thus lowering the heat on Pruitts seat a little.

i don't know if i'd go that far. morals didn't keep us from hiring when Butch was here.... $$$ did. morals didn't handcuff us when FUlmer hired Dave Clawson....$$$$ did. typically we've been on the "cheap" side of the fence when it comes to making those decisions, moreso than morals.

now, with Freeze and Briles that were both talked about a lot here a couple years ago, i say the "high ground" in my post, but it may have been better stated as being overly cautious.....i think fear of scrutiny played a role, moreso than anyone thumping a bible saying it would be "wrong" to hire either of those guys.

Yikes. Can't imagine being so out of touch with reality

Please explain to me how its not accurate.
Hed never have a title if he didnt have all stars around him
He proved that in Cleveland and LA

He can criticize everyone else for treating people unfairly yet he works for a company that openly treats women unfairly everyday.
He more often than not takes his ball and goes home after a loss.
He is a part of that special group that cries during games when things dont go their way every call.

Sometime when the wheels fall off, you can't put them back on
My point about JG's bluecollar approach to leadership is, no one disputes his warrior mentality. He is a gamer. He has positive attributes that Company's and business World hold in high regard. He WILL be successful.

Nothing wrong with admitting youre a damn fine QB. Just not SEC caliber. The JG expiriment is over.

I love how people ask Tennessee fans to have patience. To be relevant, you play for championships. My son was 9 the last time we played in the SECCG. He’s 22 now.

We just out here sitting in the desert roaming around
I lived in Tennessee for 35 years and I don't recall ever seeing a desert.

and when Lebron didnt get AD the first season what happened?
He cried to upper management coasted trough the season and walked off the court before the game ended. Before the game ended.

The fact that as a Program we bring in as much money as anyone and instead of discussing meaningful football (which we might get to be in a meaningful game 3 times every 5 years) we discuss coaching searches. I don't care if it's money or morals. Neither should ever hold us back. It aggravates me and I'm starting to realize how dumb I am for caring.

I will say that I get the decision to not approve Probst. But, yes, there are agendas by alot of people.
