For those who thought Pruitt was crazy to fire the DL coach---read this quote from Simmons.

ELJIAH SIMMONS: “Last year I didn’t play as much. I got a few snaps but since this year I had started the first few games, it’s been pretty cool. I got my first collegiate start. I’ve just been trying to get better and better every week. Now that Coach Pruitt has been coaching us, I feel like we can also get a lot more physical and we can be more quick off the ball and all that. So we can work on a lot of things with coach Pruitt. So it’s been pretty cool this year.”

There’s an untold story behind all this. And since Pruitt won’t tell it, twill remain untolt.

Anyone else look at our current QB situation and compare it to when Chaney was having to start Simms? Offense was inconsistent. We would make a play then a do nothing. He took beatings from hold ball too long and was too mechanical instead of playing relaxed. Then it finally opened up when Bray was thrown into the fire. Basically how I feel with JG vs mauer/Bailey. I feel like the offense would take off more with the latter two options. I get frustrated watching how we don’t use this huge amount of space over middle of field bc of how late he is on his throws over middle while watching other offenses kill defenses over middle.

Hey! Well, the floor in my 100 year old library is falling in. First, I was just had to get all the books off of one shelving unit. Then, after the inspection going to have to move. Very busy on top of everything else. My niece goes for tests tomorrow. So I would appreciate prayers. I check in a lot just no time to post. Actually I did post the other day to snap at someone for snapping at someone else and got deleted. 😂
Praying for you and your niece. Praying you find time for rest and relaxation.

For any of you looking for a good devotional book and interested in Vol history, I recommend "Daily Devotions for Die-Hard Fans", the Tennessee version, by Ed McMinn. (He has them for other teams as well.) You can get it on Amazon.

It's not the best devotional I've ever had and it's not the best Vol history source I've ever seen, but it's an excellent combination of those 2 things. I'm learning neat tidbits of history I never knew, and he applies it to a Biblical topic.

I'm sure there's a ton of untold stories over there that will never get told. My concern is that Pruitt is so demanding and hands on that there will always be unrest with his staff. I just wish he would take a look at Pittman and follow his path which is to hire quality assistants and let them do their job. I don't know if Pruitt will ever see himself as a head coach and not an on field coach.

De1colney says HB is a statue in the pocket. We're in trouble.
Peyton Manning was a statue in the pocket by today's standards.. I guess he sucked too...

If you're not a block head, have an internal clock and know to get rid of the ball at a certain point, it's not an issue...
QB1 right now is a block head, no internal clock, and hangs on to the ball WAAAAAY too long...

I am right there with you. I feel, though, contrary to the opinions on here, that Pruitt has nothing to offer on the offensive side. He gives these long dissertations during camp pressers about defensive philosophy and short, shallow platitudes on how that offense looks.

A qb doesn't "have" to be mobile to make up for the game being fast in early development stages such as HB is in.

Coach Cut had a rule with Ainge in 2006 when he came back as OC , if it wasn't there within 2 seconds off his back foot drop throw it away. A punt is always better than a turnover or loss of field position.
