Ok guys finally got caught up didn't see it mentioned anywhere, but Hubbs comment about Chaney sounds to me like he was forced on Pruitt like Clawson was on Fulmer, I mean think about it we all remember the rumors he wanted Freeze, he interviewed Lebby, Yurcich, Briles, totally different styles and offenses than what Chaney runs, it's minor things like this that can frustrate a coach and cause disconnect among staffs. That could be why we are in this situation over the past years is because although we may give coaches some of what they need to be successful if we are dictating who they are allowed to bring in as staff we are screwed.

I'm just relaying what I was told. They're maxed out on what the campus can hold. They've raised entry requirements. I really don't think they're looking for new students. At least that's the case for UTK.
this paints a rosier picture than i am, and that's fine, but it does point to some interesting facts about what they're looking for as far as enrollment numbers are concerned.....for the whole UT system and UTK.

and like i siap, i got all my numbers off university websites, and it was just raw data, so that may explain the 'rosier picture' presented here...i painted some pretty broad strokes.....

long story short...they want more students....they seem to be pleased they're getting more. i think it may have to do with new students not going out of state due to corona, but that's just speculation on my part.....but given they were expecting a drop or very modest increase, 1-2%, and saw the largest new student enrollment on record, that could be part of the explanation....

Enrollment is up at the University of Tennessee this year

Phil's legacy is gonna be completely ruined if he lets JP hang around another year and tank the program.
that was a risk when he took this job. err'body knew it could go either way.

books not done yet.........but act 3 needs to be good.

Yeah but take it with a grain of salt because all prior to this four game skid the VQ guys said how much Pruitt liked Chaney. In fact i specifically remember them saying not very long ago that Pruitt would let Chaney be the HC of his offense as long as he wanted (paraphrased). That was said in a podcast recently.

I think Prices point about how the offense hasn’t evolved at all and how it’s only successful if you overwhelm with talent is spot on. It’s a very boring, very predictable offense being led by a terrible QB.

That’s why I’m hoping Chaney retires at years end. Give me Osovet.

Chaneys offense has been so bad and boring. No motion nothing even remotely to make a defense think and cause confusion. That’s more than just QB issues...

Hope everyone is well. @InVOLuntary someone on the board told me about about your mother. I was so sorry to hear that. What a tough road that was--for her and your family.

For anyone who cares-- Pruitt was hired with the implicit agreement that he would be given five years. There was consensus that UT couldn’t afford to make another coaching change in less than five years and that the new HC needed five years to rebuild a badly damaged program. Pruitt was Fulmer’s guy, and his hiring came with the expectation-- and assurance-- that Fulmer would use his experience to help Pruitt scale the learning curve, and together they could return UT to respectability within five years. If not, then UT would be recruiting well and be in a good position to make the necessary changes.

Pruitt wasn’t ready for a job as big, difficult and demanding as UT’s. Being a great DC doesn't make him good enough at the many facets of the HC job and he won’t be good enough for a while, if ever. Many donors and board members felt that UT should hire an experienced HC for a massive rebuild with high expectations and an impatient fanbase. Fulmer went way out on a limb for Pruitt, and UT unified behind him. Pruitt has been a disappointment and he’s a divisive personality. He’s pissed off a lot of people, so UT is no longer unified.

The easy solution is what needs to be done eventually is best done immediately. But Sexton negotiated a sweetheart deal for Pruitt, and Fulmer doubled down. Fulmer is tied to Pruitt, so don’t expect him to do anything except publicly stand behind this coaching staff. And don't expect a lot of donors to be okay with that.

Buying out assistants with longer-term contracts would be throwing money at the wrong solution. Either fix the problem or ride it out another year or two.
Glad to see you back around.
Fire Fulmer

Good to see you again LA. Hope things are going well for you. So we are pretty much stuck with Pruitt for a couple more years? If so that is a real bummer.

I agree that they don't have to do a thing. I disagree "we might as well suck it up and accept it." Not the way I roll, or many other Volunteers for that matter. Ask SchiaNO.

My time and money can go for other pursuits. If about 40K of my closest Vol fan friends that go through those gates do likewise, after they open the stadium up next fall, "they" will be scrambling with their panic hires like they have three out of the past four times. In which case, Phil's time on the hill will end like it did the previous time.

"They" fired a HOF head coach with the help of Volunteer fans. "They" fired the most recent AD and did not renew the contract of the previous one. "They" can fire this non-HOF AD and his HC with our help again.
People blow the whole Schiano thing out of proportion. We, as Vol fans, have threatened to do one thing or the other throughout the decade of dysfunction and guess what? We keep buying right back in to the crap they keep peddling. Now won't be any different. Talk big if it makes you feel better, it' still won't change anything.

One last thing-- Bailey has the potential to be a really good QB for us. He has the tools, the attitude and the work ethic. He needs development, coaching and in-game experience to make the transition. It's really hard to get that parked on the bench. Just ask Shrout.

Could you honestly just tell us why Pruitt continuously sends out JG each week?..does his parents contribute a lot of money to the university or something?

This is different, everyone in my circle has actually quit the vols this time. Not even out of anger, we just genuinely have better things to do and I no longer go out of my way to go to or watch games. Donating money? Forget about it. For better and for worse the current political and social landscape In this country is driving people with wealth to be more and more self serving. Why would I be charitable to any organization that shows zero motivation to thrive? This includes the AD.

SHOULD might be up for debate, but we definitely CAN.

I just don’t see how!...that’s what they are hired for it just so happens that Fulmer isn’t a AD and got suckered in...maybe Pruitt and sexton discussed this to milk the university for what it was worth...if that’s the case then f*** em both

Seriously I think he did give the answer to all of our questions about why CP keeps sending JG out there when he talked about CP being stubborn and pissing off a lot of people. One advise my dad gave me that I have tried to live out, He said, "son always be teachable til the day you die no matter how you may be" Not sure CP has a teachable personality. CP is going to do he way if it hair lips the devil. It will be his demise.
