We'll try to backchannel a deal, then terminate and announce, bypassing an acrimonious firing and public search that would spawn another PR nightmare. Tough to pull off with the media scrutiny UT gets, but that would be the preference. I don't think it'll be this year... though I do think UT will be proactive in gauging interest from a very short list.

In your opinion, do you believe UT should make a HC switch? I was hopeful in JP, but I’m loosing a lot of faith. We gave him a pass for the Andy and Mizzou blowouts in year 1. Year 2 he saved his job because of the way the team finished. Year 3 is a nightmare.

If we play and while bailey does well the team still gets smashed, in embarrassing fashion, causing the recruiting class to implode which is entirely possible, worth 4 games for Bailey to show his stuff? To me the seasons already in the dumpster, on fire at that, I'd rather sacrifice the season to salvage a decent recruiting class but that's just me. I think getting demoralized for four weeks will be devastating to recruiting.

As far as the recruiting class, if what have seen so far hasn't caused them to leave then I don't think what they do in four more games is going to. At this point the recruits have seen plenty to cause them to run if they wanted to. Seriously, what else could this team do more embarrassing than they already have done many times over? And when the coaches change come after the season, you don't think that want be a factor to some of these recruits?

I agree that if Bailey plays well it would give hope but if we play and look as inept as we've looked so far it won't be enough to cool off his scorching hot seat and the recruits are smart enough to know that they probably won't be playing for Pruitt more than a season. I think it will definitely hurt the class.

You’re right. We should accept mediocrity and blow out losses as the norm now. In fact, we should sign Pruitt to a ten year extension. Who cares about wins and losses. Let’s spend $500 on tickets, gas, and tailgating so we can all talk about the good ole days together at one stadium.

So, I was doing some thinkingast night. I kind of want next weeks game to be cancelled. Give Bailey another week to get ready and let him have his first start against Vandy. Then after he gets his feet wet let him run the gauntlet.

If Bailey was to start I might agree, but I have no confidence that JG won’t be starting.

I agree but passing relies on effective play call and execution from.several people. Chaney has to call the right play for a particular defense. Riecevers have to run sharp, crisp routes, the O-line has to block well enough for the play to develop, and the qb has to recognize the open man without staring down his target, and then deliver the ball to the receiver. I don't have the confidence that this staff can get everyone working is the same direction. Nice to have Dobbs running ability when things don't go as planned.

Even at his worst, Chaney can call plays. They may not be inspired and/or creative but they qualify as football. Then we address the execution...I’m all for it.

Every time we play a game with JG at the helm, it hurts recruiting a little bit more IMO. Best case scenarios are either for Bailey to show out or for the rest of the season to be cancelled.
