Maybe not this year but empty stadiums because people are sick of this crap absolutely gets the attention of the university.

I care enough to watch. Not enough to get angry. I damn sure will not be spending money or time. If my wife needs me to do something or go to something else I’m out. Like many of y’all I’ve scheduled my Fall Saturdays around football. Don’t care enough to do that anymore.

I have followed this same arc as well. Spent a ton of money in 2015 for a let down against Oklahoma; took my daughter in 18? To the Florida game to see us get embarrassed; even traveled to the Bowl game in January. But now, I’m not sure I even care when we are on - and it also makes me not care what other teams are playing (because we are so terrible that other games’ outcomes don’t affect us in any way). Ugh.

A back injury and surgery has kept me from hunting this fall too. I guess I should take up knitting or something.

I just need the team to break the cycle of predictability, which right now is coming out of the half looking like dog **** and laying down and taking the L.

I felt like they did that last season. I was sure we were gonna go 3-9. Then we turned a corner and things changed. Same with the Titans recently. They still aren't a great team but they have found ways to win a lot of close games in recent years. And they seem like they want to win, so I'm invested in them. I don't need my teams to be juggernaut dynasties to enjoy them but I do want to see competitiveness and some surprising wins. Just flip the script for once. Outside of Dobbs and a few wins under Pruitt, the Vols have been stuck in Groundhog Day for a decade. No fire or passion, very quick to quit and lay down in the face of adversity. We broke out of that mold briefly and are now right back in it.

But he’s the only reasonable guarantee. There is not a single, sure fire hit out there who would take the job. If what he did at Ole Miss didn’t do it, you can’t ignore him at Liberty. Other dudes might be successful... just like our current and previous three head coaches
