If my comments created a misconception, that wasn’t my intent. It isn’t all about money. Fulmer does not want to fire CJP this year. UT went into this thinking it was a five-year rebuild that would require patience, and three years in, there’s little enthusiasm for a coaching search. UT has invested in, and committed to, its HCs and does not want upheaval in its marquee sports right now. Could circumstances cause that to change? I doubt it would be Fulmer’s preference.
The hope is always that a hire will be a good fit with long-term success. Once someone is in a job for a while, it becomes apparent that the person is good at some things and not as good at others. If you look at the modern-day HCs who have had the most success at UT in various sports, you’ll see similarities beyond winning. I’ll leave it at that.
I don’t think Pruitt gets forced out just yet.
QB - Bailey
RB - Gray/Small
WR - Hyatt/Wideman/Keyton
TE - Beckwith
OL - The usual 5
DL - Bailey/Thomas/Take your pick
OLB - Baron/Harrison
ILB - Toot/Mojo
CB - Slaughter/Key
Safeties - McCoullough/Fields
Not going to happen, but how would everyone feel about this IF we were going to play for the future this weekend. Make changes, discuss, etc.

What does it take? My guess is that they will keep him unless he loses the rest of the games. Only then will they consider doing something if the fans create enough stink. Even then it will take a big stink to make it happen. By then it’s too late and we should have vetted coaches already.
It’s just like with Dooley and Butch. The admin gave them every chance to not get themselves fired and they still managed to fail even harder than deemed possible. Then they’re caught flat footed.
I know. I just wanted to give my reasons for HF being my #1 option. Since Kiffin bolted, the last 3 hires have been disappointing. If UT is going to make a change, then I want it to be someone that has had success in the SEC as a head coach .... it's going to be a short list. Beating Saban is high on my list for qualified candidates. I hate alabamaDon't take what I said as negative toward Freeze or that I wouldn't want him as coach. I was just saying we get locked on one person and I am just saying we should look at any proven coach that may be available. That's all.
Some folks can talk themselves into believing anything. We really can stop talking about Pruitt being fired unless he has an off the field issue.
Two reasons:
1) the most important reason is fulmer knows his success as AD is attached to Pruitt.
2) fulmer also knows that with covid this season hasn’t had any normal flow for gaining consistency and that is also hasn’t included the OoC games that build confidence and depth.
fulmer ain’t pulling the trigger this season and we all know it
It’s really starting to feel like we are stuck with Pruitt, JG starts again next year, and we get spanked by USCjr and whoever their new coach is...and we still don’t make a move because this is the 5-year plan, come hell or high water and egos can’t be crushed and humility is an afterthought.
