I think there needs to be a rotation. Palmer is a very good receiver. Johnson is reliable but slow. I think we need more of Hyatt. He is clearly the fastest guy out there. I would just like to see what those young guys and their speed can offer. What can Wideman, Holiday, and Calloway bring to the table? I'd like to find out. They are all three faster than Palmer, Johnson, and TillmanI may be the only one but i actually have no problem with Palmer,Johnson, and Hyatt being our main i think i like Johnson more than most tho.
It feels like a lot of perceptions are based on that 2012 offense, which was a peak. In his 4 years, he only had 1 offense that was even top-40 nationally. 1 top-4 SEC offense (out of 12 teams back then).VFL’s and others like Chaney. He was successful here before and believe he can be again.
And the OL was still elite. Would have been awesome.Man...wonder what that 2013 would have looked like if Hunter, Bray, & Patterson all came back for their senior seasons.

That 2013 offense was truly sad from a talent perspective. Hardly anyone to pass to except very young so-so guys like North and Pig...and Worley passing to them. Coming off the worst defense in UT history. How they even made it to 5-7 is surprising.
I was a Butch believer after that season until the losses to Florida/Arkansas in Dobbs' junior year.Probably Butch's best coaching job. Bad roster. UGA game at home was electric...and should have won. Also screwed by replay against Vandy.
Shooting for explosive plays is not something we have a problem with (Arky being a major outlier). Even with the different Arky game, JG is 3rd in the sec in Average Depth of Target. It was the same last year and Maurer was way up there too. It is the scheme to throw vertically deeper than most teams.I don't have any specific examples to point to, but I think the take on Pruitt and his offense is slightly off. I gather from hearing past interviews and reading articles that he actually wants to have an offense that dials up the explosive pass plays and makes chunk gains by pushing the ball downfield. I think it probably frustrates him as much or more than us to watch our "offense" these days. I get the impression that he is more upset when our QB's don't take shots downfield and that's at least partly why JG has been getting the call this season.
Now I don't think that its entirely the other QB's faults. I think ball security is obviously stressed as the most important factor and I think those guys are probably so scarred about even the thought of what will come their way if they turn it over they are gun shy on taking shots downfield. For example, after HB's checkdown drive against Ark I think Pruitt was more upset he didn't pick a spot and take at least a deep shot over the middle or sideline at some point till it was too late and he forced the pick in the endzone.
I'm probably way off base here, but IMO I don't think Pruitt wants to run 40+ times a game, I think he wants to push the ball downfield in the pass game and be explosive, we just don't have the capacity to do it right now consistently. Whether its because most of our WRs can't get separation, our protection isn't good enough or our QBs dont trust themselves to execute and let it fly and risk it. Probably a combo of all those factors. Feel like I just see too many play calls that are designed to take a shot deep and for whatever reason the ball never gets out there.
TL;DR - I'm reaching here and hoping for the best, please save us #MariettaTatterTosser5
Just want progress and effort. Haven’t seen it.Time to win if we haven't forgotten how. Time to commit to the youth movement. Hand it over to HB. Watch what happens to the team's mojo from that point on. If they win at least two and the team turns up the intensity and focus - CJP can survive this mess.
No coach could win enough with #2. None. The problem is our HC would not concede that point.
