The RF has become the FF.

Can't blame any fans for going crazy at this point. We have sucked ass forever. I'm 27 and we have beaten Florida once since I've been in high school, Alabama 0 times, and have a losing record to Vandy since I started college in 2011. We will have made 4 bowl games in the last decade. I used to have so much passion for this program, and it is exhausting at this point. I primarily watch and keep up with them out of habit now.

Sobering.

Recruiting is the lifeblood of this program, that's indisputably true, but I'm of the mind that any coach can regularly land Top 15 classes here and for that reason I don't make a part of my calculation for what I want in the next head coach.
Bingo. We've been recruiting top-15 since Fulmer left and finished top-15....0 times.

Go get someone who can coach (as a HC).

Some people don't understand that times such as these are almost the only fun we get to have following this team anymore.

I'd probably have Freeze/Napier as my first two candidates. Assuming both are still with current schools I would land one of them and be done with the search asap.

Napier has amazing pedigree, from TN, plus not many HCs can claim never having a losing season which he can.

Freeze of course we all know what he is.

Bruh!! I’m 28 and I felt all of this to my core!..if it weren’t for the late 90’s and early 2000’s I wouldn’t know what tennessee football was but I know atleast what it could be and we are arguably the biggest sleeping giant in college football,if awakened!..this country will feel and hear our wrath!..people laugh now but it’s easy to do when you’re on top!..Alabama,Florida,Georgia,Auburn were all picked on by us but they don’t want to have those conversations because it’s uneasy for them just like it is for us!...our fanbase is one of a kind and I think the administration has lost sight of that in a whole perspective of things and the revenue they could have if made all the right moves!

Looks like my year 2 math sucked on offense. My mistake.
Looks the rest is close anyway lol
Fwiw, cfbstats.com already tracks all this.

Choose Team -> Scoring -> Split Stats

The tougher find is a site that tracks offensive-only scoring (taking away defensive scores and ST scores). TeamRankings does track this in general, but won't split it up by conference-only games afaik.

So, in talking to some folks, the South Carolina firing might not be the precedent we think it is.

Apparently the Gamecocks had about $40M in reserve cash to make this move. UT is sitting on about $9M to date.

It doesn’t mean a change can’t happen - it just means UT would be much more beholden to boosters to get it done.

I think we all know the Pruitt era is coming to an end sooner rather than later unfortunately money is going to be the reason he sticks around for another year. Not only would we have to pay his buyout we’d have to pay the current staff, plus the buyout of our next coach and I almost forgot we’re still paying Lyle’s buyout. Unless something drastic happens or somebody decides to bite the bullet an pay up Pruitt will be given another year.

I'm with you. If you make a change from Pruitt, I think you've got to have Freeze #1, Napier #2, and Chadwell #3.

It's crazy that these will be 3 of the more highly considered head coaching prospects considered for openings and all 3 have some type of connection with UT.

i do think it's a funny that some of you are already in full on coach search mode....and we still have a coach. debating merits of to keep/retain is one thing....but mercy....i was reading the past couple pages thinking i missed some big news!!

lol.

You have missed the news!...the temp is dropping.get you some chicken noodle soup and stay warm 🤍🧡

Butch’s bill runs out in February. And that money was set aside.

i sometimes envy you younger ones...you don't know what you're missing. i know for my kids, who are a generation behind you, they truly have no idea, not even a childhood memory of that "one year" we were good lol.

for the Gen X crowd...

this has been a long, long, long decade+.......

for the majority of my child hood and up until my mid 30's...basicaly my entire life up until i was about 35...we were a relevant program, and were good to very good most years...elite for more than a couple of years....

to see what we've seen since 2005 really has been....well, not much fun.

i think we knew that though, right? i know we were talking about how much reliance there'd be on donors/boosters to finance a move like this a few days ago.

I have a lot of respect for someone who started getting into Tennessee football post-2005, or especially post-2008, and bleeds orange. That isn't easy. They haven't stuck around through think and thin...they've just stuck around through thin.

I was born in 1987 and have been a fan for as long as I can remember, so while they've stunk for basically half my life at this point I have a ton of memories as a kid of them being good. If I didn't have those, I can imagine it'd be hard for me to remain interested.

So in other words this has been planned for a while
