What’s the obsession with Matt Campbell? His QB has gotten worse since he’s been there

In year #2 had wins over #3 OU, #4 TCU and #19 Memphis in bowl game.

In year 3, beat #6 WVU, #25 OkST, barely lost to TCU, #3 OU and #12 WAZZu

In year 4, rough one but even in the losses he rarely gets blown out.

In year 5 ( this year), he had them top in the B12 with wins over OU an TCU and KSTste.

He has 3 wins against top 10 teams in 4 1/2 years. And he is in a place that’s hard to recruit.

Matt Campbell can freaking coach.

Understand the theory, but what I think is missing is the resolve Alabama showed in getting Saban. I want to see our University say, "We recognize where we have failed. We are tired of failing. We are prepared to do whatever it takes to end this pattern."

Instead we seem content to rationalize rolling the dice. It all sounds great, but so did all our coaches and players showing solidarity during the summer. Now it appears they would have been better off skipping the protests and practicing instead because they are still divided and appear to have forgotten how to play football to boot.

Here is the deal with Saban. There isn’t a person on this planet that could have accurately predicted that he would attain even a smidge of the success he has.

The crazy part is if pruitt would have started HB weeks ago, he would have job security. Him starting JG has pretty much ended his career here. His hardheadedness and arrogance completely lost the fan base.

Anyone who thinks we should look at Tee as a candidate has completely lost their mind. Unproven and probably one of the least qualified on the staff to be considered.

Watching that again... We have one WR in the endzone with his back turned while he's being pushed by a defender. Auburn has 3 defenders. Why on Earth do you throw it in the first place? JG has to know you throw it away there or scramble.
Yep. That’s the 5th year senior that we all know.

That's just Pruitt. He's been like that from day one, and people around him have gotten used to his personality. Being the face of the football program at a place like UT comes with more responsibilities than on-field coaching, so that was totally tone-deaf. I'm sure he got a few calls about it.

Still resisting the urge.

A few questions to ponder...

If Sexton is the agent for both Freeze and Pruitt, if Fulmer wanted to approach Freeze, is he obligated to go through Sexton? If so is Sexton obligated to not share that info with Pruitt? I realize this contact is through back channels but it would be interesting to know if Pruitt would catch wind of these "gauging interest" type of events.

There are three coaches out there who built programs that could consistently go toe to toe with Saban: Meyer, Freeze, and Dabo.

I think if we are gonna be talking about Freeze, we also need to be talking about Meyer.

Tennessee football: Urban Meyer calls Vols top 10 job in America

If we can’t get one of those, then I say it’s more likely we are sticking with Cornbread and hoping he improves like Dabo did.

Urban Meyer is NOT coming here.

Say it with me now.

Urban Meyer is NOT coming here.

Also Hugh Freeze and Urban Meyer are not on the same level as HC. Freeze would be great, exciting. He’s realistic. Urban Meyer is on a whole other level and is not realistic. Just stop it with this nonsense.

See.. You say that... But that's not what happens here...

Here's our resume...
Fired Hof coach that won a Natty
The coach you brought in to replace him left after 1 year for what he, at least he, thought is a better job.
You're told no by everyone on the next list... Until Dooley said yes.

We fired him after bottoming out again...
Was told no again by several before Butch Jones.. Who actually beat UGA twice Ave ended the FL streak..
Then 2017 happened.

And now you're firing the lucky sob that actually was desperate enough to say yes to this mess and we're now gonna go hand pick the "right coach"?

Lol.

Pruitt will be back next year. Bank on it.
Until that actually happens, I'll concern myself with what ought to happen. I actually think there are multiple coaches out there who could do the job right now. Its not Freeze or bust for me.

Does more with less

Edit: should also add - I know we’ve been forever scarred as Vol fans but sometimes, when a player regresses or doesn’t show the improvement you expect, sometimes that’s on the player and not the coach. Whether it be between the ears or lack of understanding/unwillingness to do what you gotta do to take the next step, some guys will always disappoint vs their expected development.

Client confidentiality...I’m sure there would be some serious legal ramifications for doing that.

Bruce gonna Bruce

So Auburn gonna pay for their part in getting caught up in the FBI sting but LSU gonna walk bc of Wade's father-in-law being head man at the NCAA? At any rate, as good as Pearl is - it's Auburn. Him getting recruits there with Auburn's history was always suspect. Pearl brought in 5*s to Auburn faster than Barnes could get them to UT. Everyone paying attention knew why but I figured Auburn would know where to hide the evidence -- they just didn't account for an FBI investigation turning up things.

When Bama made the decision to go get him, they made a concurrent decision to do whatever it took return to championship level football. Saban was the totem whose arrival let the fans know that Mal Moore, the boosters, and the university were in lockstep. Our underwhelming hires send a completely different message and we wind up with half the fan base being irrationally exuberant and the other half in wait and see mode. They have to hire someone that 99% of us will see as a win if they want Bama-like unity. No more Google coaches. No more learning on the job coaches. No retreads. Just get us a whale.

It would be someone other than Fulmer.
