I think we are at that point where the fans just give up. I know that is said before every coach firing, but it feels different this time. Even some of the long time positive people on here are about ready to just pack it up. If this board is any indication of the larger fan base, then people are done.

Hire another google coach and you can go ahead and kiss this thing goodbye for good.

Let me ask you if you think this is possible: could it legitimately be both?

I don’t think that South Carolina job is any good. I think it’s probably the toughest in the East.

So I certainly think Freeze does not prefer it to Tennessee. That’s true.

But he’d take that job if it were offered to him - and it’s pretty clear to me from the media guys that I trust that South Carolina was never going to go in that direction and never made the call to even gauge interest.
The 247 SC mod stated he turned them down. @Atlanta VOL stated they were making a second run at him and later that day the ESPN story comes out about him not looking to make a move or happy at Liberty however it was written.

His good buddy Chris Low floated how Tennessee was his dream job. I think he will leave Liberty. I think he sees this as an easy move for Tennessee to make with how our team and coach look. I think he’s probably floating his name so UT will make a move because it’s his dream job. He’s been successful if that’s the play. Articles have been written and plenty of fans will not be happy if we keep Pruitt and he goes elsewhere and if we haven’t at least checked through back channels at this point then we’re as clueless as ever.

It isnt an easy move. not trying to piss in cheerios.

Pruitt is about to be Joe Biden on the campaign trail. Call a lid on the season and hide him in the basement until Sept. 2021. Problem is, he ain't gonna win jack **** next season.
His only hope is that Bailey is the next Peyton. Personally I believe Bailey is going to be great, if our coaches don’t ruin him.

But if that happens Pruitt will look bad for continuing to play JG

Your last sentence is dead on - Freeze is a good coach, but the Knoxville microscope would quickly reveal some pretty bad things. UT knows that. My bet is it’s a non-starter with Freeze.
yeah....if you got guys in the local media ready to pounce on 'raisegate'...i can only imagine what they'd be able to do with a guy like Freeze.

my guess is we'd hire freeze, enjoy some short term "juice" and it'd flame out relatively quickly under some scandalous circumstances......and we'd all be "this is why we can't have nice things" lol. i'm thinking Bruce Pearl at best.....

the problem with the personality type i described above is that there arne't many of them out there, and the ones that are bonafide, aren't coming back to coaching, or are kinda horrible human beings in their own right....lol.

maybe my apathy is kicking in (finally!!!), but i don't know who i would go get right now that would be able to do what is needed, in the timeline needed.....

we're perpetually "3-4 years away......" we need to be able to say "next year" for once, and freakin' mean it.

Early morning thoughts. JG plays decent in the first half of our games, second half is a NIGHTMARE. If Pruitt is obsessed with starting JG how would you guys feel about letting Bailey finish the second half? I’d rather Bailey start and finish a full game, but I think this could work. Also, if Pruitt starts Bailey, wins out, and changes offensive coordinator in the offseason, how do you guys feel?
What? That math is too hard 🤣🤣🤣. It's this simple. This is year three for CJP. And his best QB throws more TDs for the other team than he does the Vols. That's unacceptable. I don't care how it's spun. I don't care how it's broken down. I don't care.

Every position has regressed down to the punter and kicker. Everyone talked about how covid hurt CJP? I think it helped him. No way people would be showing up for this soup sandwich. We can't even sell the 25k seats we try to fill. Covid gives them an excuse.

I can't ever remember a coach, at any program, going down in flames like this with a QB he didn't even recruit!!! Normally the new coach is looking for any reason to get his guy in there. Not CJP! Nope. This guy is knows more than anyone. Just ask him. I mean at this point it's almost admirable. Takes big balls to do what he is doing. Basically any analyst, media type, football brain, radio host, etc is saying JG is the problem. Yet he sticks with him. And then he sends a text to another QB he didn't recruit and tells him if we win its because he had a phenomenal week of practice as the scout team QB?!?!?

And now we are ducking Vandy?!?!? I don't even know what to say about that.

I don't care who they bring us? Hell give us @Ron Swanson for HC, @Catbone for OC (he offends everyone) and @BruinVol for DC (he gets defensive over everything) and let's roll into 2021. It would be better than what we are seeing in 2020.

Probably but I HIGHLY doubt UT was upset about it.

Ok but far from the we came up with a scheme to dodge vandy nonsense.

you see it’s possible this is a blessing with us having some key players out AND we didn’t orchestrate the scheme for this to happen. It’s entirely possible this is just a narrative being pushed to make the head coach look worse

I do think there's going to be a coaching search, just given the way this season is going to end, so my focus is there rather than on the prospect of keeping Pruitt and how we fix those issues.

I wonder if Fulmer would be more inclined to think he can hire a semi-big, established P5 head coach instead of going the G5 route.

If I remember correctly from 2017, he seemed to be going in this direction until Schiano-Sunday scared every potential head coach off.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Fulmer (both with Currie and without) talked to Doeren, Gundy, Brohm, Patterson and Fuente. Maybe I'm leaving a name or two off, but there's a clear type there. He targeted sitting head coaches of big programs.

Maybe that might tell us something about who he would call this time around. Names like: Chris Klieman, Bronco Mendenhall, PJ Fleck, maybe Jeff Brohm again, Tom Allen, Matt Campbell, Neal Brown, Geoff Collins, Satterfield, etc.

i don't know this to be true, but Chris Low has been responsible for "floating" ideas around for a while. if you remember, he floated the idea of how much Lane Kiffin would like to come back and redeem himself here before any of the 2017 meltdown happened.

and now he's floating how much Hugh Freeze prefers TN...

many we sure are popular among CLow's good buddies.

or could it be Clow's good buddy is Jimmy Sexton? who also represents Lane Kiffin.....

lol.

that's fine, and some of those names are good names. none of htem instill a ton of confidence imo. that means nothing a to what would happen should any one of them get this job should it come open.

but none of them fit that personality i believe we need....i think when i see those coaches' names, i think future head coaches at places like Mizzou, USCe, Kentucky, Arkansas etc....

but as stated, i don't have a clue who we would/should go after....so take my comments wiht a grade of slaw.....i can't see success here right now.

I believe you also have to look at what all was going on at the time. UT was toxic. The top winning coaches were not going to come here at that time. I don't think Fulmer had to many choices and certainly there wasn't any proven coaches to choose from that was dying to come here.

i don't think we'd have too many options this time around either....it's not exaclty "better".

i think we'd wind up getting some of those guys some pretty heft raises.

come to think of it we should just call Hugh on his bluff. fire pruitt and offer him the job at the same time.....put it on him.

lol.
