Not everyone is Freeze or bust. I think there are better coaches out there. Would they come here? Don't know. But I'm not sold on Hugh Freeze.
probably not. but what would be bad is the national, regional and local media screaming "hypocrites!!!" in our general direction for hiring Hugh Freeze, with his VERIFED checkered past, while rioting against Schiano for having a hint of one.
something else that won't be lost on the UT Administration.....
N. Greenville 22-14 (8 losses from first season)He's 16-16 in FBS, all his other experience was FCS. He bailed on Delta State after one season going 3-7, had 2 losing seasons at Costal before showing out this season.
Also even at the FCS level he's already been in NCAA trouble:
In 2018, the NCAA released a detailed report concerning numerous NCAA violations that occurred during Chadwell’s tenure as the CSU head football coach. The violations ranged from using multiple ineligible players to players using scholarship funds to purchase electronics and jewelry from the campus book store. Ultimately, the NCAA sanctions vacated 18 wins from the 2014 and 2015 seasons and the 2015 Big South Championship. Also vacated were three wins over crosstown rival The Citadel, games during which CSU used ineligible players.
I would take Richt. I think he would get us respectable again and would probably retire in five years. I doubt he would win anything substantial here, but we would be winning 8-9 games a year and be a solid program again. I would take it in a heart beat over getting dragged every week. What's your thoughts on Mark Richt? I mentioned him earlier but nobody's chimed in about him. He's 60 yrs old and I read where he stepped down at Miami because he was burnt out. I'm thinking he could be the football version of hiring Rick Barnes. I'd be good with Richt, especially if his heart is in it.

Charleston 35-14
Coastal 16-16 (9 losses in first season)
Coastal is now ranked and beat Napier and Les Miles. I think some would have thought Saban was a bad hire if we had hired him from MSU. That’s not a shot at you, we just seem to get fixed on thinking a few coaches could succeed here but many would do well.
Again, both are better than Pruitt. To be fair Kansas is 0-7, everyone beat them so far this year...not sure I'd drop that name like it means something lol
Not saying Chadwell is a bad candidate by any means. But both him and Napier are in year 3 in the Sun Belt. One guy is 16-16 and the other 25-11. I think having so much SEC/ACC experience as a coordinator is what would put Napier over the top between the two.
This is a stupid question but any chance Bailey transfers?

I think we are at that point where the fans just give up. I know that is said before every coach firing, but it feels different this time. Even some of the long time positive people on here are about ready to just pack it up. If this board is any indication of the larger fan base, then people are done.
Hire another google coach and you can go ahead and kiss this thing goodbye for good.
If you figure four realistic candidates are Napier, Chadwell, Satterfield and Brown, pretty easy to compare them given they all made their money in the Sun Belt.To be fair Kansas is 0-7, everyone beat them so far this year...not sure I'd drop that name like it means something lol

Ugh! This gives me even more of the sads. I’m really starting to think I’ll never get to see TN football be great again. This has me ready to throw in the towel on this program. If you think about it they haven’t had to care cause Phil was at the helm. When that ship started to sink they hadn’t had to deal with a search before, especially a Top 10 program like TN once was.
I don’t think they realized what it took to keep a program at the top cause Phil always kinda controlled a lot of it. When Phil was let go they were left with their thumbs in theirs butts. Then when you make one hire and he bolts after a year, you panic and scramble to save face and money instead of going out and spending the money the first time to get who you want and who can lead us to Championships.
Then it just spiraled out of control and then we became the laughing stock of CFB and a example of what NOT TO DO.
I think it’s gonna take them throwing 50-70 million at a coach kinda like A&M. But then the “Control” issue also remains cause in places like Fl, A&M, OSU, Bama, the coach has A LOT of control, here that’s not the case. It’s a toxic dynamic when you can’t do what you want with Salaries and coaches.
And believe me, coaches talk, and they know how it is here and from what I’ve heard most won’t come cause they are micromanaged to an extent.
So that HAS TO CHANGE, or we are gonna be 4-8 year end year out with a 8-5 ceiling. And that’s the cold hard TRUTH.
All of y’all know what is going on. It’s been said here numerous times.
Anyways, maybe things will change but for now it’s pretty much the same way it’s been for a decade. Phil is making headway but he still has PLENTY of obstacles.
Our remaining schedule is Florida then Vandy then ATM.I get the feeling that if Pruitt gets boat raced in the next two games he won't get to coach that Vandy game. Nightmare scenario for him. A fired up Vandy team at home looking for a lone win against their biggest rival and a demoralized Vol squad.
His opportunity to quiet his critics even for a week is gone. Looking for the positive in this .
