Rant: Have the playoffs or the 25 player limit removed some parity out of college football? Seems like the same teams up there every year.

Playoffs have ruined the sport. It’s Bama and Clemson for the foreseeable future with Ohio State, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and maybe Georgia/Oregon/Florida rotating in and out every once in a while.

You’re literally in Texas. Best HS football in the nation in your own state, and the one next to you (Louisiana) puts out the most NFL players per capita. You have 5-6 5 stars a class in your home state. Plus a national brand school with practically unlimited funds in a major US city.

Any head coach that can’t win in Texas isn’t one worth a damn.

That being said, he was a great offensive coordinator at Ohio State and I’d be down for that all day.

Y’all really want another HC that’s too loyal to one QB?? Herman wouldn’t even try to recruit highly ranked QBs because of Elligher
They've won two national titles in 50 years. A&M hasn't won one in like 85 years. Mack Brown was there for 16 years and won the conference twice. Maybe it's more of a problem with Texas than the coaches.

I would take the top players in GA and FL over Texas anyday. Per capita, Texas is way down the list in NFL players. They are behind Hawaii, Delaware, and South Carolina. Georgia is #1 now, Tennessee is just a little behind Texas. Those Texas kids go to OU, OSU, Bama, and A&M in large numbers too.

Do you think it would bring a little parity back by increasing the playoffs to 8 teams? I have always thought that was the magic number. All things considered Clemson maybe plays two games and they are in the playoffs.

16 teams
11 game season
6 Power conferences with 12 teams each
Each team plays all 11 other conference members
6 conference champs and 10 wildcards

That last part isn't true, the QB room is the most stocked on the team. He brought in two 4 stars in the 2020 class, had one for 2021, who later decommitted when the #1 QB for the 2022 class committed before the season.

Per capita doesn't mean crap when you are the flagship university in a state with 29 million people and should be skimming the cream off the top every year. Many of the great players at LSU, tOSU, Bama, and OU have come from Texas. Herman's recruiting was lights out in year two and three, somewhat less so for his fourth class, and has ground to a halt this year. If Urban Meyer ends up there, they will be at a level with UGA, Bama, and tOSU in the 247 rankings every year.[/QUOTE]

I agree but mostly because Florida has those super teams that talented players will move to. High school football in Texas cannot be compared.

as far as towns literally shutting down for high school football on Friday nights!...for sure its BIG down there.

Thing is, you have to find someone worth “shooting” for and someone who will answer your call.

We called Chip Kelly last time. We made a dump truck offer to Mike Gundy.

People want us to be Alabama or Florida, but we just aren’t. There’s no version of Meyer or Saban for us. We’re going to have to strike gold.
Strike gold? Chilling statement.

When your state has 29 million people, per capita doesn’t mean much

UT should’ve went after him when they hired Pruitt but they’ve got to much pride for that though. Kiffin knows he screwed up.
As much as I despise how Kiffen left us. I cant say I blame him. He was young and immature and USC was his dream job. I am positive there are a lot of people who wouldve made the same decision he did.

Maybe a better way to say it is when hell “Freezes” over. 😁

Part of it is that. Part of it is the NCAA sees it as their best interest to look the other way with rules for the blue bloods, I really believe that. When OSU, Clemson, UGA and Bama get the first 100 picks of the draft every year they will be in the playoffs every year. When somebody like OM upsets the apple cart they get slapped with sanctions.

I really don’t see this cycling like in the past. The top teams are here to stay and I don’t think the coaches matter all that much as before. Most are plug and play when you have superior talent. Bama and OSU have been doing it for years. Coaching turnover doesn’t phase them one bit and when coaches leave they are suddenly pedestrian again.

This is what it is and why I’m coming closer and closer every year to just stop watching. I’m not quite there yet, but I’m certainly on the way. It’s becoming futile to watch anymore.

I agree with this 100%... I also think he regrets it. He could’ve done very well here

completely agree. The travesty was Hamilton giving him a contract that (from what I understand) had minimal penalty for him leaving. Plus the trajectory he was on was going to have UT on probation quickly. But I think he’s matured, he’s an elite coach, and I think he’d be interested in returning to right the wrong. Seems like a total kiffin thing to do.
